Well, it could be worse. It could be Angelina Jolie all over again.
I can't say that i really care. It's a movie i'll probably never watch, and i can't be invested in it. Games that get movie adaptations tend to fail miserably, only a handful actually turned out well (and vice versa...).

DaCostaBR: You do realize they're casting an actual actress and not just a floating pair of breasts right?
If they're casting Ridley then they're casting neither :D
Wow. Literally everyone I know loved Daisy Ridley in "Star Wars" and most critics lauded her performance as well. But on here it sounds like it's a universal consensus that she's a horrible actress. Talk about a filter bubble ...

And I don't think I know anyone who liked her in Force Awakens. But I'll admit it's possible I'm being unfair - if I judged Natalie Portman's acting ability based on her performance in Star Wars movies I'd think she's terrible too, and she's in fact quite talented. So yeah, maybe Daisy Ridley also can do way better than she did in Episode VIII. Still, so far she exhibited on screen only total blandness and all the charisma of a styrofoam cup. Not exactly the best credentials to take the lead in an action movie.

SeduceMePlz: If "boobs" and "English" are the only criteria... I'd suggest Lucy Pinder. ;)

But I'd like it to be a good movie, so I'd prefer Lauren Cohan. :P

LoboBlanco: Read amrit9037 suggestion ;P

amrit9037: How about Sophie Dee?
Most enhanced Welsh Lara Croft ever!!! ;P

LoboBlanco: My thought when I read SeduceMePlz´s post :D

wolfsrain: Wrong Tanya for me;)

LoboBlanco: What about
I prefer the original, not so sexed-up Tanya. That one was actually a piece of work.

As for why i do not want Daisy as Lara, it's very simple: she can't act. We'll talk after a few more movies and a couple of years if she improved, but right now she's just as bad as the teens from The Shannara Chronicles and other identical series that are targeted to teens.

And i really don't think that bust is overly important (plenty of stuff to fool you in our day). The acting is the thing that counts. Having a good story and dialogues helps, too. Lara is overconfident, quite intelligent, sarcastic and an acomplished athlete. It's more than boobs. So let's not fixate on that. Let's see who can be all the other things. And for some stupid reason Hayley Atwell comes in my mind (and no, that's not because Agent Carter, but because she has a lot of acting experience and a fragton of series that she was in)

mobutu: I'm of the firm opinion that this girl can't act.
Proof? latest starwars

oh, and before starwars she was nothing. Now suddenly she's an "actress"? ;)
While I disagree, that's a perfectly sensible reason to not want her in this part.

Im all for Daisy if she can get away with it.Like i said all the marketing for Lara C since day one always had a very busty well endowed female lead -- do they do a reboot to change the image?.

I haven't seen her in anything else, but the judgment is based upon the acting choices that she and the director made. She played the character the way that I would expect the character to be played, and so I have no issues with her.

The people who wanted more, probably weren't paying attention to any of the previous 6 movies and the acting there. Most of those characters were rather shallow as well.

People are judging her based upon the acting choices that her and the director made. Comparing her to Natalie Portman is rather ridiculous, that was a bad role no matter how you look at it. She and Justin just didn't have any chemistry at all and the whole production was just like one huge fuck up from start to finish.

At least with Daisy Ridley, there's legitimate reasons for her to play the role the way she did. You might not like it, but she made legitimate acting decisions here. It's amazing how intolerant people are when Star Wars movies aren't exactly how they envisioned them.

I don't think having zero charisma and screen presence was an acting choice. If so, it was a bold one, I'll admit.

I don't think that's even remotely true. She didn't have any less charisma or presence than Mark Hamill did in the movies he made.

That was so insane and utterly wrong I don't even have a witty retort. It's just...like... what? How? What am I even reading? I can't. I just can't. I'm done.

I'm just saying that Luke had no charisma or presence. If I were to decide between the Empire and the Rebellion based upon presence and charisma, I'd be building a Death Star because Darth Vader had presence and charisma.

Luke was a whiner that just blended into the background at various points.
Lara Croft imo needs to be three things:

1) Have gigantic boobs
2) Strong upper-class British accent
3) Slightly sociopathic and very self-obsessed

Whiner with no charisma... no, I'm pretty sure you're talking about Rey. But don't worry, I get why you could get confused, what with Force Awakens being a remake of the original movie.
