UPDATE: We've added a new option to the Privacy settings in GOG Profiles - from now on you can turn off your profile on GOG entirely, so no one can see any kind of information that is shown on the profile page. This also means that when you turn off your profile, you won’t be visible on your friends’ friends lists, even if they decide to keep their profiles visible.
The option to enable/disable your GOG Profile can be found in your account „Privacy & Settings” options, under „Privacy” tab.

We just introduced a new feature on GOG.COM: User Profiles – a social way to share what you and your friends are up to. See what your friends on GOG are playing, achieving, and sharing across four sections – Feed, Profile, Games and Friends.

Your Feed is the centerpiece of your Profile. Here, you’ll see which games your friends have been playing, all sorts of achievements and milestones, as well as general thoughts, screenshots, and forum activity. You can dispense your approval at whim and share your own stuff as well!

Your Profile is all about you and your gaming accomplishments. It's a summary of your activity, like the time you've spent in your games , your latest achievements (and just how rare they are among other users), as well as a glimpse at what your most active friends have been up to.

If you want to know more about your Games, you need to hit the the third tab. It contains a list of all the games you own on GOG, together with stats like time spent in-game and your progress towards unlocking the achievements. Sort the list, compare stats with your friends, and get some healthy competition going.

Finally – your Friends: get a general summary of their achievements and hours played. Here you'll also see which games are the most popular among your friends right now, so you can join them in multiplayer or find something you might enjoy yourself.

Of course, your profile comes with some sweet personalization options, choose a wallpaper from your game collection and share a few words with the world.

User Profiles are available for all GOG.COM users. Your personal gameplay stats like achievements, time played and milestones depend on GOG Galaxy, but if you’re not using the optional client you can still use the feed, post in it and interact with your friends.

Launching profiles also means adding new privacy settings on our end. You'll find three new Privacy options in your account's „Privacy & settings” area. These settings allow you to set the visibility for your profile summary, your games, your friends, etc.
So what are you waiting for? There's so much room for activities!

liamphoenix: Now we need the ability to change our profile name.

I signed up here in 2011, since then I've changed the name I use, having a seven year old name associated with a public profile makes me actually want the ability to alter my name now when I never really cared all that much before.
How nice that the option to change nickname have existed for several years, then.

In the beginning, you had to send a message of the "other" type to support, as there wasn't a default message type for name change. Since then, however, a "problem type" for nickname/username change have been added to the contact form.

Civilian_Zero: I don't know if it's always been this way, but my play time for games is wrong on just about every game. Is there just something weird about how GoG tracks playtime that I never noticed before now or is it some sort of mixup?
avatar
Swampland: Playtime is only added when you start the game through Galaxy. If you are like me you sometimes start through Galaxy and sometimes just through the link in your desktop or in the game folder. That might be a reason for strange playtime numbers.
I have the same issue with Steam, as I play most often in offline mode, and it doesn't properly record my time either.

Actually, I think Galaxy may he slightly more accurate than Steam is, given the problems both seem to have with not being connected and still dealing with play time tracking.

I don't know what to say.
GOG completely ignores their customers and their concerns about privacy and implement a feature that is not even in the top community wishlist while there are major issue to fix/improve that would benefit all. GOG site is a mess and has been neglected for years.

GOG makes itself ridicule even more in the gaming world for the chance of getting some new users. Users that must be warned what they are getting into.

Personal opinion aside, the profile system lacks mandatory feature that even an amauter would implement:
- a way to see how other users could see your profile. There is a need to check if the privacy settings actually works and GOG word alone cannot be trusted on that.
- a way to delete or reset profile information. if you can share them you should be able to edit them
- a way to completly obscure information to the world
- a way to, at users discretion, to delete without objection all user information shared at any time with GOG or its partners

how possible ?

what are those messages you are posting here then ?
Also noted:
How can I choose which friend and which content to display on my feed? How can I complete remove friends activity from my feed?

It's funny how they implemented sorting games by time played and we are still waiting for proper filter/sorting on the account game page.

In general I think the profiles are well done.

But when users choose "full privacy" there really should be "full privacy" which means I shouldn't be able to see number of games owned, number of achievments and hours played.

Djaron: they did, just 3 days ago, on friday, before weekend and GOG office closed for the weekend:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general/introducing_new_privacy_settings

you were supposed to be informed already !

classic-gamer: I didn't get any Mail from GOG, so I've been NOT informed. It was more or less coincidence that I saw it in the forums.
It was an irony. I also just saw that thread yesterday, and because someone mentioned it while i was reading other thread. Of course that's not informative and i agree we should have received an email warning us to check the new privacy settings before they activate it and made our info public without our approval.

avatar
bratfish: I do NOT want my games owned, achievements reached or hours played (or anything else) to be shared with or visible to ANYONE.

Give me an option to disable that.
avatar
liquidBass: You have the option. Check your privacy settings.

Edit: My bad. No you don't.
No, we have not. Check your privacy settings and then see the results of making it all "private" by yourself. But, as we don't have any preview of how our own profile will look with each setting, just make it all private and then ask a friend if he can see your total games owned, achievements and hours played (if you don't use Galaxy, this 2 will say 0, anyway) ->Sorry, i saw your "Edit" after posting this :S

It's really sad that, despite all the feedback they got from that thread (https://www.gog.com/forum/general/introducing_new_privacy_settings), they went ahead and activate this profile thing with minimum privacy options by default for all of those who didn't have the "luck" to be here between Friday and Sunday to read the "warning". Because, between the "warning" thread and the profiles being active, people had only 3 days to look at that random (not even "NEWS") thread in the general forum and act to change their default settings from All Visible to whatever they want.

As a lot of people said in that thread, making it all Visible by default cannot be undone, not like setting it all at maximum privacy by default and then let people share what they want.

Also, now i understand what "general information" meant in that thread and why there wasn't any explanation about it: number of games owned, achievements and hours played cannot be made private for anyone, even after setting all the privacy options as "only me".

I do not want to be forced to share any info with anyone. You already did it without a real warning and setting all our options to Visible and public by default, and that can't be undone, but at least give us the options to change it and make it all private if we want or even an option to completely disable the profile. And please, "all private" is "all", not just some parts of it.

like for example giving enough keys to devs who want to sell their game here, instead of slacking and hindering devs's willingness to bother doing business with them ?
naaah, that wouldnt be in GOG's best interest i guess

now, about the " - a way to, at users discretion, to delete without objection all user information shared at any time with GOG or its partners" in fact it is a law in my country and possibly it has equivalent counterparts in other countries of the EU... Here it's the law of year 1981 about computers and freedom, managed by the commission called CNIL.

and i can safely bet that GOG will wipe its shiny ass clean with any EU law or any consumer/citizen law of home countries of their custom... sorry... their "new product"/slaves/sacrificial lambs

Hey GOG ! it's hard to keep recommending you to people around me, frankly, it's harder and harder:

- Stop making curation bonkers (magnum opus) !

- Deliver the correct amount of gog keys to devs who notified you months in advance about their kickstarter's backers rewards required volume of gog keys (For the King)

- Stop hindering, impairing, or otherwise sabotaging devs who want to do business with your customers here by delaying the updates they supply to you, or by more globally making the process of dealing with you so hard they will be discouraged from ever bothering to release and maintain DRM free builds on your platform !

- Try to at least pretend you will comply to LAWS a slightes bit

THOSE should be on the top of the priority queue, way above making your social bonkers !

Could you try to start behaving like a digital video game STORE and PLATFORM for a littlewhile instead of trying to join the FaceTwitterstagrambook bandwagon for god knows whatever new bone to chew ?
