UPDATE: We've added a new option to the Privacy settings in GOG Profiles - from now on you can turn off your profile on GOG entirely, so no one can see any kind of information that is shown on the profile page. This also means that when you turn off your profile, you won’t be visible on your friends’ friends lists, even if they decide to keep their profiles visible.
The option to enable/disable your GOG Profile can be found in your account „Privacy & Settings” options, under „Privacy” tab.

We just introduced a new feature on GOG.COM: User Profiles – a social way to share what you and your friends are up to. See what your friends on GOG are playing, achieving, and sharing across four sections – Feed, Profile, Games and Friends.

Your Feed is the centerpiece of your Profile. Here, you’ll see which games your friends have been playing, all sorts of achievements and milestones, as well as general thoughts, screenshots, and forum activity. You can dispense your approval at whim and share your own stuff as well!

Your Profile is all about you and your gaming accomplishments. It's a summary of your activity, like the time you've spent in your games , your latest achievements (and just how rare they are among other users), as well as a glimpse at what your most active friends have been up to.

If you want to know more about your Games, you need to hit the the third tab. It contains a list of all the games you own on GOG, together with stats like time spent in-game and your progress towards unlocking the achievements. Sort the list, compare stats with your friends, and get some healthy competition going.

Finally – your Friends: get a general summary of their achievements and hours played. Here you'll also see which games are the most popular among your friends right now, so you can join them in multiplayer or find something you might enjoy yourself.

Of course, your profile comes with some sweet personalization options, choose a wallpaper from your game collection and share a few words with the world.

User Profiles are available for all GOG.COM users. Your personal gameplay stats like achievements, time played and milestones depend on GOG Galaxy, but if you’re not using the optional client you can still use the feed, post in it and interact with your friends.

Launching profiles also means adding new privacy settings on our end. You'll find three new Privacy options in your account's „Privacy & settings” area. These settings allow you to set the visibility for your profile summary, your games, your friends, etc.
So what are you waiting for? There's so much room for activities!

Chacranajxy: I think it's cool. Some of the tinfoil hat comments in here are amusing.
The comments are always hilarious.

You mean the green button upvote thing?
also what was the exact criteria that decided weither this or that message/review of mine appeared in the profile's feed, or didnt appear ?

because i saw old and recent messages, but not systematically every of them... and i saw one old review but not a more recent one

of course i was the only one to see this feed, for obvious reasons, but still...

i am genuinely curious about what makes a message or review appear or not on the profile feed, in general... what are the rules and criterias that weight in?

puviani: Dear GOG.com,

Please look up the word "privacy" in the dictionary.

With privacy settings on maximum, you can still see the number of games in someone's library and the number of hours of play that were tracked by Galaxy. That's none of anyone's business and it's not up to you to decide to make that public. When someone wants privacy, you should hide the profile entirely.

I, for one, am here to buy games, not to become a member of some adolescent social club. Fine if others want that, but you have a legal obligation to protect the data of those who don't.

So, I invoke my legal rights under the EU Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC's third governing principle (data should not be disclosed without the data subject’s consent) and demand that my profile be immediately and completely hidden or disabled. I remind you that Poland is a signatory of the "Convention for the protection of individuals with regard to automatic processing of personal data" and as such, complying is not optional.

My advice: stick to selling games and get out of the social media business.
i dont know you, but i already sincerely like you !

thank for your post

Djaron: i think it is useless to send support ticket
it is not a bug or an error, it's intended and they wont have any solution for that, as it is not to be fixed
It doesn't matter. I have already sent the ticket.
I asked for disabling the prifile page for my account and the relative link.

Dissatisfaction should be expressed!
I encourage everyone who doesn't like that publicity to send a ticket too!

I got nothing! I don't have any updates. But then I'm just a lowly chav with only 29 games. SO KIND OF GOG TO INSTIGATE A MEDIEVAL CLASS STRUCTURE.

Privacy issues aside, the feed is completely useless to me if I can't get rid of all the Galaxy stuff.

Where can I deactivate that?

I don't want to know about achievements, milestones or what my friends started playing. It's cluttering the whole feed.

I DO want to know about their thoughts, reviews, and forum topics etc., so how do I make that feed useful?

Oh, GOD! O.o
A few bugs (that I have reported) but otherwise good job GOG.
AWESOME !

when you post messages on your activity feed, you can include pictures you upload...
but, unlike this forum, they appear in decent sized preview thumbnails ! and by decent sized, i mean the same width as the profile feed's message boxes on the left column

now, i may turn my profile to public.. it was the incentive i waited for ! wait, just need to find my rule34/videogames subfolder in my hard drive before the festival begins !
Looks awesome!
