OHMYGODJCABOMB: Unfortunately, this makes sense.

How can we trust GOG's curation system then, if they probably can (I don't claim that it's so) select games not by quality, but by country of origin?

Isn't it a little bit unfair?
Biases are. Just like that radio DJ who plays that one song you don't like, it is impossible to appeal to all. Then again, how would you discover that new song or old classic? Sure, you can keep your exact playlist, but I didn't discover Tales of Maj'eyal by staying in a box.

That one there is available on fireflower - another drm free store:
http://fireflowergames.com/shop/another-star/

Much like some others you post there are on itch.io for example - another drm free store. Not seeing the point in listing every game released if they are already available elsewhere also drm free?
PONCHO
https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/poncho
"We’ve taken a look at PONCHO, it looks like an engaging and colorful platformer with a cool hero and very pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, however, we feel that the game would not be a good fit for GOG, as we think that it appears to be too niche for our users, which means that we aren’t confident in its release potential on our site. For this reason I’m afraid we will have to pass on PONCHO."

Competition is good, and GOG is in need of having their lunch stolen. If left alone, GOG will just become more lazy and less inclined to do anything worth a darn.

This. There's only so far that good will will carry a company when they are no longer the only DRM free store, and their selection is inferior. I still love them, but I'm the first to criticize when they do a stupid move, even if not openly.

This isn't about DRM-free, you can find DRM-free games even on Steam.
This is about trying to find some patterns and reasoning why GOG rejects some games which might be a good addition to their catalog.

I don't know about motives that GOG has, but has anyone noticed that in every GOG reject letter quote that has been posted, they call the game "engaging"?

For some reason I find the use of that particular word amusing.

EDIT: Also, itch.io isn't a DRM-free store. It's just that most games there don't happen to have any DRM. Some, however, do have.

I have to admit that I would be heartbroken if I had to sell my game on Steam, rather than GOG. I hope GOG will start to take smaller indie titles more seriously, because there are a lot of people that want to support the DRM-Free aspect of gaming.

Barry you posted the reply for Alien Shooter TD not Immortal Defense, their other Alien Shooter games are already on GOG, dunno why would GOG reject TD. -.-

The Last Time

Source: Kickstarter for The Last Time

"Thanks for bearing with me as I’ve got the DRM-free release ready; I was waiting for GOG to get back to me. In the end, they’ve decided that the game is too niche for their platform, which is fair enough – so, I’ve got a page set up for the game on itch.io, which I’ll be making public as soon as I’ve issued this update."

That's what I thought initially, but it's not actually the dev of Alien Shooter TD, it's another dev from Studio Eres, chiming in with his own experience with GOG. Notice he doesn't have a developer badge for that forum and says: "they rejected my own game from there when i applied there." He wouldn't have phrased it like that had he been talking about the game in question.

Check out his Steam profile:
https://steamcommunity.com/id/rinkuhero
It lists the games he's worked on, the only finished one being Immortal Defense.
