That's the issue, actually. That's the witch hunt. The Steam group constantly calls out games that make no sense to be called out for fps. But that's what you get when you call a group a "police". Justice for all, whatever concept of justice that may be.

You mean point and click adventure or some other sub-genre? These sub-genres are confusing. Whenever, I think of adventure, I think vast horizons, valleys, cities and walkability so wrong or right, I tend to think of adventure consciously or subconsciously as open-world but I know games like Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones are also considered by many of its audiences to be adventure games.

Not everyone's eyes are the same. I mean it in the most literally biological way. People are different. Some are able to see things that others can not. Some are able to hear higher or lower frequencies than most. It's good that your eyes are incapable of picking up this distinction, but many people have different genes. They aren't just being dramatic, they actually see a very bothersome flickering that not only distracts them from the game, but gives them very tangible headaches.

I'm pretty sure the definition of what an adventure game was, was changed back in the 90s or even earlier but Today, it is rather subjective what an adventure game is. I see you are of the opinion that many games or even more are mislabeled as adventure games and that's why I asked you what you meant by adventure games.

The monitor's refresh rate is something else entirely.

Let's say the monitor redraws the picture at 144Hz, so 144 times per second. If the game is able to keep up, everything is great. If the game, however, draws the picture 30 times per second, so far as your eyes are concerned you are still seeing that choppiness, which your brain then interprets as flickering. It cannot see 144Hz, so for the purpose of this test it's non-existent, but it can very well see the delay between he frames of a 30Hz animation. The result then is the same as having the monitor redraw at 30Hz. That being flickering and a headache.

First they only focused on the framerate and now it's "if I can't max literally everything on my mid-tier hardware from years ago.... OMFG THEY SHOULDN'T BE ALLOWED ON PC SADGSGAFDGFDSHSH." Followed by cries of "UNOPTIMIZEDDDDDDDDDDD."

Wow this went from no replies to quite the response. I posted this because the GOG continuity is unpredictable and I'm not always sure if something will work first. Basically this would just be a list of games locked at 30fps. If it doesn't matter then you could ignore it, but it doesn't have to be exsactly like the FPS police just something like it.

If your looking at Steam, just about everything is mislabeled.

The adventure game genre was never changed, but imo due to a decline in popularity, and the rise of action-adventure. Plus rampant mislabeling the younger audience, and console gamers, never really saw/played a real adventure game. Thus creating a confused mass of uninformed gamers.

Example: Ask a 20ish year old gamer what genre Tomb Raider is, they'll say adventure.

I asked a guy at work why he liked gaming on a console, he said "because I like using a controller"
He had no clue that you can use any number of controllers on a pc.

This is the same kind of thing. And it doesn't really matter how many times they say adventure games are dead, they'll always have somebody, somewhere creating a real adventure game.
