EndreWhiteMane: I printed my library pages and put an 'x' through the ones that were done.
Your system would have broken my brain. :-)
Your system makes more sense, but I can't do it in a straightforward way. My brain resists it.

And so, after trying a couple of other approaches, I went with this since I could update it with new purchase info on the fly relatively easily.

Stilton: Just tried your pic and got the frigging bear with the giant blue boil on its back. Its always amused/irritated me that GOG say I'm seeing the little dick because they're being 'overwhelmed with popularity' or some crap. No mention of them not making any provision for dealing with the spinning whirlpool of overload they've invited us all into.
Maybe give it another shot when you feel like it. I was editing the post, removing the first picture and replacing it with one that turned out with far less graininess.

You probably got Atlas bear because you were trying to check while I switched things around. Sorry about that.

Stilton: I haven't kept up to speed on Desura - I don't/didn't use them. I've heard they're gone and then that they're just 'restructuring.' Time will tell, but a whole hell of a lot of people must be using their bandwidth to the max right now...
avatar
EndreWhiteMane: I was rather shocked that I downloaded my whole Desura library (94 games) in just a few hours yesterday.
The speed was way better than GOG is at the moment. Kinda weird really.
GOG really needs to do something about how people access their games. The library is way too clunky still, and combined with downloading a large collection it makes the whole process unnecessarily frustrating. They even leave files out from some downloads and I've had to check and get the missing ones manually.

EndreWhiteMane: Would everyone please +1 our lovely Valkyrie Moon until her rep pops?
She has just gifted me MOO3 since she saw I wanted it badly.
Talk about a super ninja, what a great surprise! :-)
Done.

You know. Someone should create a script or a browser addon specifically aimed to auto + people around here. :-)

Especially since there's probably a script to downrep specific people around here.

I didn't realize that they leave some out! Oh crap. It would take me days to check them all. :/

Edit: I just clocked my internet at 8.97Mb/s, my GOG downloader is running at .5Mb/s. (yes, that's point five)
That is SO sad. :/

No problem, got the image. It looks like you're spinning plates a bit there with the aid of some kind of mathamatical formula ;-) Of course it might just be a recipe for the perfect salad dressing. Bet it feels good when you check a folder/list off and the whole thing shrinks a bit.

Um, their suggestion would be to use Galaxy. Not at all acceptable for me, I have banned Galaxy till further notice.

CarrionCrow: Good evening. =)

Doing okay here. Trying to wake up, watching the Witcher crawl along in my downloader and finding myself getting irrationally annoyed at FLAC soundtracks.
I get the purpose, lossless audio is a good thing, but it's still irritating when the frigging soundtrack is larger than the game itself. (Not that that's happening with the Witcher by any means, that game is huge, but it's happened with more than one older title.)

How's your day been going?
avatar
ElTerprise: I'm doing good - having a really quiet day. Just started to watch some Stargate Atlantis on Netflix (started to rewatch the show after FedCon - bt this time in english)

Well i like FLAC soundtracks but the tend to get really big and it makes it necessary to convert the music files if i want to have them on my phone. FLAC files are just too big...
http://freemake-audio-converter.nl.softonic.com/

a very useful program for converting audio ;)

My music software only exports 96000 sample rate 64 bit audio in .wav files running into hundreds of megabytes of size (the requiem was 1356 mb actually). This program converted it into an equal quality 32 mb .wma file, which is the one you can hear on soundcloud ... if only to prove a point :p

It's in Dutch though, far as I'm aware, and I'm not sure if this is the secure virus-free site where I got it ... still, it's a great program and it supports most audio formats I know of. Hope I helped!

edit: had to correct a little mistake
re-edit: and another ...

If you want sadder, that's what my downloader does at top speed for this dusty shithole.

Can't wait for a major company to get into this market so the local podunk net providers get their teeth kicked in and go out of business.

CarrionCrow: Interesting. Hadn't ever looked into it.

From what you're telling me, it pretty much serves no purpose for someone like me, since I listen almost exclusively on a 20 dollar set of headphones and my hearing is half dead from using those headphones on max volume for years at a time.

I am not surprised. -laughs-
quite, in fact here's a pretty good rule of thumb for bitrates and the sound quality they provide in mp3.
32 sounds like crap you hear over the phone.
64 adequate, sounds like an old and worn cassette tape or am radio.
128 pretty good, sounds actually better than FM radio.
192 wow I can barely tell any difference between this and the original CD I am comparing it against.
256 this is the shit yo! Loads of bling.
320 bloat.

By the end of the sale, I should be able to see if I've forgotten anything.
If so, I'll get to dig through it all and find it to make all the numbers match up like they're supposed to.

I've marked a few as clear, only to go back and readjust after I purchase something new.
That's why I'm going with this setup, starting from scratch to organize every time I bought something was incredibly inefficient.

Can you download the games without the client?

I noticed it first with Sword of the Stars. I've got some DLC and it wasn't included in the auto download. Just the main game and nothing more (I didn't select goodies). When I've got everything in and BEFORE I think about adding any extras I'm going to have to wade back through everything and check that all the game files are there. It might not be needed (but then again it might).

Ouch. You could probably do better with satellite since you get little rain there, have to get the dish above the sandstorms though.

This is where I wish we had full viewing of each other's libraries. At this point I have a fair idea of what has DLC and what doesn't, so I could at least cut down your potential list of items to check a bit.
