It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Stilton: GOG really needs to do something about how people access their games. The library is way too clunky still, and combined with downloading a large collection it makes the whole process unnecessarily frustrating. They even leave files out from some downloads and I've had to check and get the missing ones manually.

EndreWhiteMane: Um, their suggestion would be to use Galaxy. Not at all acceptable for me, I have banned Galaxy till further notice.
There's an 'accounts have been hacked' thread and the finger had been pointed at Galaxy by some for being a potential weakness. I'll wait to see if its worth it as well.
Trying to drum up a little bit of interest for my retirement (of a thread) giveaway. If you fine folks want a chance at getting jefequeso's The Moon Sliver...well just enter. No rules for this giveaway, not even rep/join date. It ends tomorrow and so far I've had one entrant, yikes!

EndreWhiteMane: Ouch. You could probably do better with satellite since you get little rain there, have to get the dish above the sandstorms though.
Satellite's too expensive, unfortunately. Would have to get all new gear, then like you said, I'd have sandstorms to deal with, and those happen every day or two.

XxXSprayvWarXxX: Can you download the games without the client?
Absolutely, you can use the GOG downloader till they obsolete it. And you can download with your browser.
You've been here nearly a year, how have you done it before?

CarrionCrow: Interesting. Hadn't ever looked into it.

From what you're telling me, it pretty much serves no purpose for someone like me, since I listen almost exclusively on a 20 dollar set of headphones and my hearing is half dead from using those headphones on max volume for years at a time.

I am not surprised. -laughs-

j0ekerr: quite, in fact here's a pretty good rule of thumb for bitrates and the sound quality they provide in mp3.
32 sounds like crap you hear over the phone.
64 adequate, sounds like an old and worn cassette tape or am radio.
128 pretty good, sounds actually better than FM radio.
192 wow I can barely tell any difference between this and the original CD I am comparing it against.
256 this is the shit yo! Loads of bling.
320 bloat.
Frankly I never notice any difference between the "sound quality" of pieces. My Cd's sound just like the ripped mp3 files on my mp3 player to me? :/

But my ears aren't the best around, granted :p

That is part of why I'm doing this now.

I understand that Galaxy is very much a beta.
At the same time, my download speed with it is incredibly inconsistent.
Since I already have a speed that could charitably be called godsfuckingawful, this little project would probably take an extra month if I ran it through the client.
I don't have that much patience. At all.
So now, I feel pressure to grab it all before I get stuck in the gap between the downloader being out of commission and Galaxy having an equal level of speed and stability.

Stilton: I noticed it first with Sword of the Stars. I've got some DLC and it wasn't included in the auto download. Just the main game and nothing more (I didn't select goodies). When I've got everything in and BEFORE I think about adding any extras I'm going to have to wade back through everything and check that all the game files are there. It might not be needed (but then again it might).

CarrionCrow: This is where I wish we had full viewing of each other's libraries. At this point I have a fair idea of what has DLC and what doesn't, so I could at least cut down your potential list of items to check a bit.
That would be useful, but I'm thinking of/reigned to just going along each row of my library and lazily checking for any surprises like a bumblebee in a flowerbed. There'll be no rush about it, just a few rows or a page at a time like my ancestors have been doing it for millennia. Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
