It's not always what peoples "do" but also "how" they do it.

Taking action against someone who harasses others, sounds like a noble goal, who could be against that ? except the real question is what qualify as "harassment" ?

Is this harassment insulting or assaulting somebody because of their skin color, sex, religion, opinion, or sexuality ?

Or is this "harassment" simply, a joke / character / story /theme that you don't like, something that offends you directly or by proxy for minority X,Y,Z you self proclaimed yourself an ally of, is it somebody wearing the wrong hairstyle or simply somebody whose opinion doesn't align at 100% with yours.

And what about racism ? most peoples would agree that racism is bad and fighting it is a good thing, but what are we calling racism ? hating / being prejudiced against peoples based on their race or ethnic group or is it simply thinking that Hollywood obsession with race swamping random established character is stupid ? is misogyny hating woman or simply being annoyed at the Nth movie franchise having a soulless gender swapped reboot.


Personally I am pretty sure that when peoples say they are against "wokism", in a majority of cases, it doesn't mean that they hate woman, minorities or peoples with different sexuality, simply that they hate the extremist dogma that come with it where if you don't pass some purity test then you are automatically placed in one of the imaginary boogieman group that those following this ideology created to park the unbelievers, be it some dumb hashtag or one of the 'ist, 'ism or 'phobes ending adjectives.

To go back with this thread the reason why I am a little weary about this ESG score is simply because I am worried that they will do what to many other have done before as in that they will be so obsessed with not offending anybody, even the most sensitive dum dum on Twitter, and reaching some "diversity" quota, that they will self-censor themselves or start adding more and more hamfisting badly written or preachy characters or themes. Not because I think that caring about the environment or equal right for everybody is bad.

I agree. It was made to stir shit. Most of the posts deal with "woke". The "ESG score" plays only a little role in most of the posts.

If you read my whole post and not just the quoted line, you probably know the answer already, but in case it was not cleat, I'll clarify it anyway: It's the first one, not the second one. I am pretty sure that I mentioned insults in my post, not jokes. There are jokes and jokes. Most are for fun, I can take bald guy jokes pretty well :). I am not talking about taboo words or some bullshit like that. Changing the text of a national hymn so all genders are represented equally? Gee, count me out. I find the latest changes to political correct language absolutely stupid. Also in my region we have quite some names and terms that would be considered racist in the US, but here they have no racist background here. So why change them?
But then there are not just evil, but mean jokes which are designed to blame, to lower or insult certain groups of persons, those are really not ok. Just because it's told as a joke, it's not harmless.

And no, it's not noble, it's necessary. Heck, I would prefer if we all could just "live and let live". But if you let the "don't let live" people do as they please ... we see over and over where that leads to.

If CDPR wants to include diversity in their games ... fine by me. I don't demand it, I don'teven care about it. If I don't like what I see (I would probably not like to play a gay guy), I can always play something else. But raging or just propagate against it? No Sir, not my style.
When I play, my focus is on well designed characters and stories, not on skin color or other genetic aspects.

You mean that you only watch movies or read books where all the political points of view are represented in an artificial balance?. That you ban any creation where the vision of the artist is more evident?

Anyways if that game/book/movie would exist. Influence hypothetically the player with positive messages like inclusivity wouldn't be a bad thing, and according to a lot of posts here it is what some people are not understanding.

And If the problem are the "dangers of influencing", Then every piece of art would be potentialy dangerous as an "influence", those which talk about inclusivity and those which does not. Another matter that some of the people here does not understand.

the worst ideology/politics is the one that does not consider itself as an ideology but the normal state of things. And when it means putting in quarantine/suspicion every message about Inclusivity, climate change or sexual diversity then there is a serious problem because whe are talking about human and climate rights and laws for the people.

And this is what apparently is lightly changing in some shows or media, And what some conservatve circles can't stand with.

It's a corruption of the very idea of virtue.

Now we have a real world application of virtues made into pseudo-law by having low "virtue scores" result in potential financial repercussions (failure to obtain loans, grants, intangibles, etc.), punishments.

In Ultima it is pretty clearly an evil corruption.

In the real world... some applaud such corruption?
