We're holding a Contest to celebrate the new free Couple Update from Haven.

You can now choose between different couples, and it comes with new models, new actors, gendered lines, new assets and more!

To join our Contest, simply comment on the forum, what your favorite video game pair is and why.

We will pick 3 of the best entries and reward them with a key for Haven!
Geralt and Ciri, because Geralt is awesome and Ciri chose what to be good at instead of only using her gift. Also their chemistry is awesome (at least in the game, the show is not as good).
Prince of Persia and Farah from Sands of Time. Not only they had great chemistry, leading to one of the most believable video game romances of all time, but also complemented each other gameplay-wise when solving environmental puzzles and in combat.

Ubisoft would have a winner on their hands if they made a game with Prince and Farah both playable in co-op. It Takes Two shows that this formula is really viable.
Tough choice! There are so many to pick from, and in the end I couldn't decide between Banjo & Kazooie (from Banjo-Kazooie/Tooie fame), and Sasha Nein & Camilla "Milla" Vodello (from Psychonauts 1 & 2).

Banjo and Kazooie... where to start! An adorable and unlikely duo that perfectly balance each other out. Kazooie's blunt attitude and loud mouth gets them into trouble, Banjo gets on damage control with calm and patience. Kazooie brings out his fun side, and supports him with her unique abilities. Banjo shows her another way to see the world, and protects them both. They never abandon each other, no matter the situation. Together they kick ass and make me smile, even after all these years.

Sasha and Milla are great for how strong their personalities are on their own, which is only enhanced when they team up. They're admirable people who have suffered through a lot, yet come out on top - something that isn't immediately obvious when they're first introduced in the game. And I love the fact they've been there for each other through thick and thin, both as field agents and as friends (and lovers? ;P). It's nice to see a team of go-getters who have each other's backs.

(There are a lot of great pairings in the Psychonauts series, now that I think about it... but these two have always been my favorite)
My pick is Indiana Jones and Sophia Hapgood. They have their own interests, career and beliefs, but in the end they have each other's back. They have great chemistry and the banter between them is hilarous. From a gameplay point of view, some puzzles require them to cooperate to succeed, enriching the experience. The game is at its best when they're together.

Plus, Sophia can't still be that mad at the incident with the knife thrower.

ICO: The boy with horns and the mysterious girl.

Made me really care for someone in a video game for the first time.
Holding hands, sitting together on a bench to save the game, was a unique moment and a unique design choice I still cherish.

My favourite pair has to be Guybrush Threepwood and the love of his life Elaine Marley from the Monkey Island series. You have to love a couple who can make you laugh so much. :-)

They share a love for fun, adventure and wit, and are both independent, capable and take-charge people, although Guybrush is more quirky and Elaine is more cynical and practical-minded. They have both rescued each other, sought treasure across the Caribbean, and battled foes including in particular the ghost pirate LeChuck. Guybrush adores Elaine, and Elaine grows ever more affectionate for Guybrush as the series progresses while remaining somewhere between amused and exasperated at his antics. Their romance continues throughout the Monkey Island games, and never feels tacked on or out of place to the player: even among all the zany content from insult swordfighting, three-headed monkeys, and vegetarian cannibals, Guybrush and Elaine's love is there in just the right amounts to complement the adventure and tie the plot together. As a player, you look forward to the times they meet, and want to spend more time with them - a clear mark of a great relationship.

Another contest with hard question. Hard to choose among lots of awesome answers.

I pick Eva Rosalene and Neil Watts from To the Moon series.
You can ship them romantically or not, but they do make just a cute couple. Balancing the adorable stuff, the comical goofy relief, and the kill to the core emotional touch.
You can't help but feel with them. Even when they are kind of just the narrator/conduit of another story, they are a great pair you end loving.
So, yeah. Neil and Eva.

JakobFel: Well, in terms of non-romantic pairs... V and Johnny Silverhand from Cyberpunk 2077, without ANY doubt. Not only is their relationship some of the most well-written video game storytelling ever, but its storytelling method is innovative as well. I actually made a post about this a while back in the game's forum here on GOG that pretty much summarizes why I absolutely love their relationship:

The narrative style of this game is revolutionary, at least in terms of games. Having a secondary protagonist that is an infamous legend of Night City inside your head but not really inside your head but kinda-sorta... it's not just cerebral but it creates such a deep-seated dilemma (especially near the end of the game) for you, as the player. Why? Because in spite of Silverhand's flaws and extremism, you come to absolutely sympathize with him. At first, he just seems like an edgy rocker punk who wanted to stick it to the system but then you come to realize that he is a visionary, he's sentimental and he's right in so many ways, particularly in regards to what happens when people abuse capitalism and let it get out of control. In his attempt to make a statement, to wake everyone up, he took things too far, which is why he no longer has a corporeal body... yet you find yourself becoming more and more like him. Is it just the chip causing that or are you in total control of your faculties yet finding that you agree with him and see yourself in him?

Then, at the end of the day, you have to ask yourself: can he really be considered a sentient being or is he nothing but the binary that makes up the engram? Is everything he says to you ACTUALLY the engram or is it little more than a vivid hallucination?

That pretty much sums it up. I love how V and Johnny start off as practically being enemies but as the game goes on, they start to develop a friendship that is so well-written that it impacts you in so many ways, emotionally. Keanu's performance really helped make Silverhand feel like someone who you both love and hate... and at the end of the day, he was literally willing to fade away (ironic) to let V have just a few more months to live, if the player chooses such a path. His character progression was absolutely phenomenal, as was V's. Keanu should have won an award for that performance and CDPR absolutely deserved the Outstanding Story-Rich Game Award that they won in the last Steam Awards.

So yeah, V and Johnny Silverhand. Best video game pair ever written, in my honest opinion.
Agree, Johnny is an asshole at the start of the game, but with time and every time the game slows down is so well written, you really connect with the characters and understand them. That scene in the "Johnny's Grave" is so emotional and leave me with a philosophical existential emptiness, if I have to point ome flaw of the game is not having more of those moments.
Door-Kun and Aigis from Persona 3 FES. This game is split into two parts: The Journey and The Answer.

This is a game that was released in 2007 originally, so this is the only spoiler warning.

Door-Kun is a nickname that players have given to the player character for the first part of the game, The Journey, due to the true nature of his fate - which isn't revealed until The Answer. With the original release (without FES), he just dies at the end. Oh and this is the happy ending because the world ends in the other ending.

With FES, you find out that he becomes the great seal that keeps Erebus and Nyx from reuniting and in doing so, keeps the world from being destroyed. He dies as a direct result of this.

Although Aigis is a robot, she is the most affected by his death to the extent that she becomes the player character of The Answer. She looses her Orgia Mode and gains Door-Kun's wildcard ability to summon multiple personas. Also her original persona, Athena, transforms into Door-Kun's original persona, Orpheus. The plot of The Answer involves her finding out the true reason for his death (becoming the great seal) and coming to terms with it.
Broken Sword - George and Nico - The couple that always gets together but never gets together.
My favorite pair is Estelle and Joshua from The Legend Of Heroes Trails In The Sky Series

Estelle is a rather naive and straightforward girl who is always energetic and positive. She is very proactive, somewhat of boyish in appearance and attitude, and has a "hit first and ask later" attitude

Joshua is a quiet, calm person whose character is the opposite of his hot-headed foster sister, Estelle. He addresses situations in a collected matter, all the while keeping Estelle from getting into trouble. Joshua is a popular figure among all those who he meets due to his calming personality as well as his careful approach to others, leading him to have many suitors, as well as a personality which draws allies to him.

Estelle's loves catching fish while Joshua loves to play his favorite tune with his Harmonica and at the same time always keeping an eye on Estelle in case she causes trouble :)

Estelle and Joshua seem to cover very well each others weaknesses and as you progress in each game you can see very clearly that they are made for each other. (Don't want to go further because I might spoil some of the story ) :)

Honestly, I'm not into characters in general and more interested in the plot itself.

Therefore I choose Kain and Raziel, whose story spans across hundreds of years, is a subject of several prohpecies and includes at least two time loops. They are both enemies and allies, immortal vampires and prophecized saviors of people of Nosgoth. Their relationships are very complicated as you couldn't even say how they began - with Raziel killing himself after going to the past, or with Kain, resurrecting him as vampire knowing that they will be (were) destined to fight across time.
Gordon and Alyx from Half Life 2.
There are really only two pairs from video games, that I can think of at the moment, Gary and his cat Kiki from "Gato Roboto", along with Gerry and the player from "Graveyard Keeper". Those are the best character pairs in games that I can think of... however not in a romantic way.

On the romantic side however I can only think of Nicole McCallister, and Pitfall Harry, from "Pitfall: The Lost Expedition". that's a romantic relationship I can get behind that's from a game I've actually played.
Geralt and Yenenfer from witcher 3 :3
