It's hard for me to choose between Lee and Clementine (Telltale's The Walking Dead) and Joel and Ellie (The Last of Us). Both have a great parent-adoptive child relationship that helps them overcome numerous hurdles. In both cases the father-figure rises to great heights despite having no obligation to do so. In both cases, the daughter figure becomes a strong survivor who can guide others and, potentially, save even more lives.

That being said, I think Lee/Clem end up superior. Lee (can be played) as straightforward and honest with Clem, rather than deceiving her and creating tension. Joel, for all the good he did, ended up concealing something important from Ellie that she probably should have known.

(As for romantic pairings... nobody really comes to mind. Mario x Peach is a whole lot of runaround; Cloud x Aerith/Tifa ends up marred by death/deceit (which applies to a lot of FF couples); and Stardew Valley's relationships end up too shallowly explored due to the way the system is set up.)
Cuphead and his brother, Mugman, are wonderful to see together as they make their way through the Devil's casino. As they win the stakes become higher. The game is very artistic. It's an awesome play co-op with a friend!

The Doom Slayer and the Super Shotgun.

Alone they are already powerful, but together they strike fear in the despairing heart of their enemies, they tear the flesh of those who oppose their union, they ecstatically blow to bits the envious demons who want to separate them.
Rick&Morty!
This series is my favorite adult cartoon.
This grandpa-and-grandchild relatioship is more than complicated and utilitarian. It reveals a unique compotion of the bond.
AI: The Somnium Files. Date is the detective. Aiba is an A.I. created to be a perfect analytical partner during his investigations. He cracks dad jokes and delights in bad puns, but he’s also a tragic figure. He’s complex, but approachable and sympathetic. She's more serious and composed. On the job, she’s no-nonsense. But she's also surprisingly human with her sense of humour. She’ll often joke about killing Date: it almost feels like a big sister affectionately teasing her little brother. There are times when she will anticipate his needs before he even voices them, thanks to to their close connection and her intelligence. She calls him out on his more unprofessional conduct, offering a sense of balance: the conscience and voice of reason. Is she helping him? Could she be keeping him in line? How much might he really need her, and vice-versa? Both Date and Aiba have these great personalities that make them likeable, yet believable and flawed. They play brilliantly off each other. Solving the game's murder-mystery is of course the prime reason to keep playing, but equally important is watching their relationship sparkle and ignite.
Hello, greeting from Venezuela.

(sorry my english)

I seek to participate in the contest, these are my selected ones.

1* the witcher Triss Merigold and geralt de rivia: an eternal struggle for survival, added to a love / friendship without equal.

2* ys (series) Adol Christin and dogi: a balance of personalities between 2 adventurers, who have a common goal.

3* genshin impact paimon and traveler (main): 2 travelers who are learning and maturing along the way, special mention to paimon which adds the funny part.

thanks for you time.

peace.
Return to Krondor!

James and Jazhara from Return to Krondor are my favorite video game pair.
James is a Squire/Thief/Fighter class and Jazhara is a Mage class.
You get both characters to play very early on in the game, which means you can experience both characters play styles without having start another game.
Plus the game is very fun (for such an old game) and it was based off a Raymond E. Feist's fictional fantasy setting of Midkemia, so the writing is great.

Tough decision and this goes back to my console days. I'm going to say Alex & Luna from Sega CD Lunar the Silver Star. It was a fun little fast paced game. There are a lot of couples in that game but the classic Hero saves his childhood love is pretty good. It was good enough to be remade a few times.
Sam & Max are obviously the ultimate couple!

One is a talking anthropomorphic dog dressed as a detective with encyclopedic knowledge, the other a psychotic, hyperactive lagomorph with a sharp mind who enjoys violence.

Together they form the Freelance Police, private investigators who solve cases even crazier than their absurd and hilarious dialogue by moving around in an indestructible 1960's DeSoto.

They live in New York City, but have to deal with gangster rats, mad scientists, aliens, demons, giant robots and many other unlikely characters. And despite all this, they always manage to solve cases and save the world, always with a combination of pure madness and brilliant deductions.

As Sam would say to Max, "You crack me up, little buddy!"
yeah, Gabriel Knight and Grace Nakimura, or optionally George Stobbart and Nicole Collard. The contrast between Gabriel's or George's goofy improvisation and Grace's/Nicole's actually reasonably smart detective work is hilarious :D
Indiana Jones and Sophia Hapgood surely made one of the most memorable couples in the history of videogames.
If you haven't yet played Indiana Jones and The Fate of Atlantis, do it now. You won't regret it.
How can it not be Minsc and Boo!
In the history of gaming nobody has a relationship like those two.
"Go for the eyes Boo, Go for the eyes!"
