Lahnmir: Simply put, Balrum is an RPG with a feature list that could/would/should attract a lot of oldschool gamers ( it did the trick for me and I insta-backed them). The game has: [...] the need to eat, durability etc. etc.

dtgreene: The need to eat is a feature I actually *don't* want in my RPGs.

Durability can also be annoying if it's there just to be there, rather than as a feature clearly intended for game balance.
Both of those are some of my pet hates too
Devs gave bit vague response on possible GOG release on their own forums:

RE: Distribution platform / no STEAM
Hello there!

We hope we can get GOG to allow us on their platform. Please vote for us at GOG so they notice

Yours,
Balcony Team
But at least it's clear they want to get on GOG and ask people to continue voting for Balrum on the wishlist.

If you're wondering what kind of game Balrum is, I posted links to Let's Play videos, official game tailer and gameplay showcase videos earlier in this topic.

Solid rec, OP. I'm not usually enthusiastic about turn-based dungeon crawlers - I feel like if you've played one you've played them all - but this one does a LOT to rise above the hordes. I've never seen a game that combines the CRPG and base management genres so smoothly.

Voted, and I hope it comes here soon!
Have all the issues been fixed?

Depends on issues you speak of. Most forum reported bugs have been fixed and devs have started implementing player requested usability improvements like making moving stuff to container easier.
Still waiting and looking forward to this game!

Can't wait for its release here on GOG! =)
Very interested in this... great find!
I backeed it on a whim. Although I haven't started playing it yet, I'm pretty impressed with how well the devs are supporting the game. Lots of updates and fixes.

It really does play pretty great now. There are still a few balancing issues it seems (I see lots of folks complaining that mages are too weak, but I'm playing a mage and really enjoying it), and it would be helpful if there was an indication as to how many LP ("Learning Points") one will receive each level, or how much LP it will cost to level something up fully, as it's a bit of a challenge to figure out what crafting professions one can afford to take on. Seems the LP is limited to where one may need to decide whether they want to pick up crafting professions or dual-class, instead of trying both. I've seen a lot of complaints about this, and I agree it would be nice to try all the things, but I suppose that is what multiple play throughs are for.
I'm maybe a third of the way through the game, if that. There's a ton of content, and even though there have been a few bugs and issues along the way, the devs are constantly making fixes, as well as updates based on suggestions from the community. They're definitely doing a great job of supporting the game.
I really hope it finds its way to GOG eventually.

Thanks for taking the time to post your thoughts. I appreciate it.

They really improved the "pure mage" experience in the first week or two after proper release; a little bit more gear that's useful for casting, and a much, much improved mana regeneration rate (release-day mana regen was a case study in poor game design and planning). It's much better, now, but I personally am not going back to my mage character. Still not nearly as fun as a hybrid, to me.

The worst thing about the implementation of LP is that you don't know if you've made a mistake until you're much of the way through the game. Hiding bad choices is just poor design. If you know where to go look, you can get about three times the LP from books that you will gain in a full playthrough of the game from just levelling...but only if you haven't picked up those skills first, and paid for them with your earned LP. So if you're willing to metagame a bit, you can easily, easily pick up magic AND swordplay AND crafting AND harvesting. But if you just doodle around and explore, you'll find that you can't get a broadly capable character. And you'll probably starve while learning that :/

With the "slower hunger" option, and the faster mana regen, and the continued improvements to UI and QoL tweaks, it's a game worth playing even if you don't like the survival RPG. But it's most certainly not without flaws.

This is a very valid point. I wouldn't have know if I hadn't seen discussion on the forums about how LP worked and just how limited it was. I also did enjoy the game much more just by knowing to avoid spending LP in certain professions/skills, as there were skill books to be found, but only for very specific skills.

There is an exploit involving a somewhat simple (but tedious) copy/pasting of a certain map file while using a container and two save files to duplicate the book enough that you could max every skill / profession (can be found mentioned in a post that I believe is stickied under the Balrum section of the Balcony Team forums (a thread about beginner tips and tricks).

Hopefully they'll continue to support and improve the game for some time.
any update on whether there is a greater likelihood game will be coming to gog?
Why hasn't the game been brought into GOG yet?
