1) If I recall, the US has some nasty laws that require US companies to put a backdoor on their servers so that the US government can gain privileged access (hence why some companies have to look for hosted solutions outside of the US). Shouldn't be throwing stones at the rest of the world in terms of abuse of power.

2) The Internet is an international decentralized network. You can't own the whole of the Internet. Countries (and smaller entities) control the part of the network that is on their lands. I could create a mini-internet that overrides externally defined domain names and IP addresses on my house LAN if I so wished.

mm324: It tends to put the more widely known site first while google puts whoever pays them the most at the top of the list.

From reading their faq's I believe they don't allow anyone track you from their site. Once you go to another site there's nothing they can do.

mystikmind2000: understood.

In Australia the government recently set a law to force all ISP's to store all meta data for two years. What was most amusing about it is that the media found out all the politicians pushing the legislation have special software blocking the ability to save their own meta data.

I am amazed at the stuff Australian voters put up with, honestly!
I am amazed at your running down the people, why don't you get on a soapbox in Hyde Park and improve it for the people? It is very easy, far too easy to say what you are saying so let's see some action from you.

Starmaker: Wingnut source alert. Might as well cite Stormfront.

cogadh: Wingnut source doesn't change the fact that this is actually happening. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
Yes. But the OP clearly expects people to get acquiainted with the news via the link. Supplying a wingnut link is basically the equivalent of goatseating the audience. Unless the actual news is "powerful wingnut makes an idiotic statement, here's why it's important [explanation], read it at the source" (e.g. Trump's campaign posts its plan to invade Canada), use a non-batshit source. If you can't find a non-batshit source, the news item is probably not worth posting.

Goatseating? That sounds... naughty...

Seriously, what does goatseating mean? I can't find it in any dictionary.

It doesn't surprise me, the "elite" love to make rules for everybody but themselves.

So the sea can flush the internet away? Huh, might actually be a good thing.

Cor you pulled a post out of the archive there :o)

It would be a super-liberal area, and probably a bit orange. Although saying that it will probably have dropped out before the big boys get going (euros football dig there).

Wrong... i said 'voters' not 'people', learn to read.

That means i am 'running down' what voters put up with from politicians and yet still vote for them, that is what is amazing to me! What action will you see from me? My vote.

I don't know about there in Australia but here in the US our choices are usually between Dumb and Dumber. But I still vote in the hope that whoever ends up in office will mistakenly do something for the betterment of the country. Also I was told from the time I was just a kid that if you don't vote you can't bitch, and who doesn't like to bitch about the government?

Dumb and dumber - yep, sounds familiar.

But the scary thing to realize is that our politicians evolve according to the nature of voters. So if your politicians are dumb and dumber.... they are a product of dumb voters, unfortunately, its the truth! (Edit: its the Achilles heel of democracy)

Oh and i agree that if you vote, you get to complain! lol

It's almost enough to make me want mandatory IQ tests before someone is allowed to vote.

It figures he was a Nader supporter.
Back in my party days I'd wait until after I voted to get messed up. :)
