Day 30, Elves

We continue twiddling thumbs.
Bane of the Orcs, Day 30

With a quick change o' the whip and a last ditch summon, we took a major city of the halflings with minimal losses, while in a pincer movement, my air force swooped down and seized an undefended archon town not far away. My flyers noticed some halfling slingers roaming the woods, apparently leaderless. Could these be deserters from Bockwit's faltering army? If so, my economic warfare may be starting to bite him where it really hurts. In the coinpurse!

Also, incidentally, I sometimes read through the other wizard's info, you know, just checking on how many heroes you guys are picking up (nice rebound Bockwit!). Geez, darkelves have a bad day lately?

As for my hero, my darling Glanton, or Granton, Glandon or whatever his name is? I either had him to start with or got him on the first turn, maybe when I took the local town. Can't remember but I've had him from the start and he came with a couple decent items. He's done like 90% of the hero work on this map since despite maintaining pretty good reputation I have gotten one stinking join offer.
Halflings, Day 30

The orcs had a chance at just ending us, but they chose caution. They have paid in blood for that caution, and hopefully it won't be the last of their blood to be water the earth.

In other news, don't you just love map makers that have indies spawn with ZERO F'ING WARNING IN PARTS OF THE MAP THAT ARE CLEAR?! As if I didn't have enough trouble between Orcs, warnings about indies that only exist when you walk up to their spawn location, and indies actively wandering around to wreck my boop, now multiple level 3s have spawned in different areas, ready to waste me. -.-

When I started looking around and saw them all, I had another bad flashback to Celederion.
Bump! Love to see just badly I've been punished for my hubris. Was it just that stack of abominations?

It appears Wennejoekel is having a busy time in real life. Hopefully he'll return eventuallly.....

Nah, though if my other attack HAD failed (or looked unfeasible), I'd have said "Screw it" and tried for the Aboms.

I eliminated Glanton's stack. Glanton has already done his biggest damage in this map, but there was no way of preventing that from happening.
Sorry guys, I am back :)

Real life was wraking havoc on me. So is this map :o
Day 31, Elves
Today my great friend, the Spirit of Order, announced he was sending me three Ballistae as a reward for this great nation's devotion - and they look Tremendous, really the BEST siege engines!
Not Graydon!
Orcs Day 31

So that's how you did it! I couldn't figure out how you took out Clayton and his stack. I couldn't see anything nearby except your hero. I thought you had a stack hidden in the trees. But no, I never looked closely enough at that hero. All this reminiscing about Celedrion. Well, now this game reminds me of Wizard's Throne. Anybody play that one? It was a good game but it had some serious balance issues. Remember how the draconian heroes used to be flying? Remember when flying units with a ranged attack could kill unlimited stacks of melee units because they couldn't fight back? Well, that's what happened to me. Somehow, perhaps through the malicious machinations of the mapmaker, Bokwit has himself a flying hero. This bloody thing flew up, all by himself, to my hero and his party, and killed them all. The only damage I did was through magic attacks through my wizard, but once my MP were used up, he could kill a good orc hero with entangle strike, and 6 other units, orc heavy cav and hell hounds, and they were helpless to do anything. And what, you may ask, was the ranged attack that this hero used to do in my lovely Grandan and his boys? Was it a bow? Oh no. A wand, you may ask? No, nothing that heroic. It was steam. He steamed them to death. That's a death for a lobster, not my warboys.

So uhhh, anyways, please forgive my rant. Just a little chocked up to see the dead, steamed body of my beloved Graden. Allow me to conclude with a couple points:

1. This war is pretty far from over. A relatively tough stack got wiped out and my best items and hero were taken from me. I might eventually triumph but Its not at all certain at this point.

2. If I can't take this hero out, you elves better watch out. DO NOT send out stacks against the halflings without including ranged units, flyers or some other unit capable of hurting this guy. This guy is a very special class of OP hero. You can deal with him, but you need to adjust your strategy. I haven't dealt with anything like this since WT.

Well, that's unexpected! I didn't realise how zany this map is. Time for everyone to load up on Entangle and Web.

I don't even want to hear it. At least I came by my hero honestly. :P
The funny part is that you probably don't even realize what you got. I'm saving my rant for later.

Bockwit, Day 31

I'm in awe of the amount of "Screw You" this map maker had for the players.

In various locations:
-A manitcore and a mystic
-Mammoth
-5 slingers
-Vampire and Bone Horror (x2?)
-2 knights and 2 swashbucklers
-A leprechaun

Those are just the ones I saw, and all of them are out for blood.

Right! I am back. My laptop gave up on me. Battery issue. New battery and it is ready to rumble! Apologies!

I figured I was dead meat on this map, but after a battle gone 100% wrong, costing me almost everything, I threw in the kitchen sink and ...... that worked. As a reward, I got a nice stack and city. Good to go again!
