southern: I'm not sure if the Heavy Storm there will kill them - doesn't that only deal damage when people move through it?
Damaging hexes deal damage if a unit starts their turn there, so they'll eventually die if they don't heal faster than the damage output. In one of our previous maps, some indy frogs were placed on top of a hex with Poison Plants, and the frogs eventually died on their own.
I seem to recall that indies are immune to certain hex disadvantages, but I might be mixing up games.
southern: The lower map level has cities with Wizard's Towers, but I'm damned if I know how any of us will get down there.
Some tunneling units should do the trick.
