The GOG version comes pre-patched with a rather recent basic version of the Unofficial Patch so you are good to go right from the start. If you want the tweaks and restorations of the plus patch you need to manually install this from the ModDB, which you would also need to even get the Steam version running in the first place.

will the new 11.0 or 11.1 release on GOG? I also notice (in Patch 10) some of the characters, like "Nox Harrington" don't appear where they are supposed to. (Not at all at first near Hospital- maybe being I am playing a Ventru right now had something to do with it?) Also the propogandist (holding the sign) in Santa Monica 2nd Street does not tout his prophecy just holds the sign. In Downtown LA the "Confession" nightclub girl you can get blood from is not there at all (at first/sometimes) Also Heather does not change her clothes when asked. (After Dr. Grout quest) I find if I exit the game and start a new character then go and reload my old one(in Downtown LA) she will have changed to the outfit I requested before saving and exiting. weird. Dr. Grout's mansion has sconce puzzles which seem to solve themselves if you try too many times. (ruling out pot luck since I solved both without figuring out. first puzzle I knew all the pictorial symbols but was solved prematuraly before I competed the notepad logic order. And the second one, I didn't even try and by accident solved it since I never even attempted to figured out the pictorial symbol for "chaos".) Bach does not fight you. Only threatens you. is this fixed in Patch 11?

You have a lot of issues that I never heard before, have you continued an old save after patching? This is known to break the game in many ways! As for GOG, I guess they will wait for a final version to update their release, if this one ever comes ;). As for the sconce riddle, I always just solve it by randomly pulling the sconces too :)!

I can't tell you if or when GoG will update to a newer version of the patch.
For the problem with Grout's riddles you mention, that is quite normal behaviour. Since "mind" and "chaos" are completely random, using them repeatedly will eventually solve the puzzle; sometimes even the first time.
If you mean Bach in Grout's mansion, he's not supposed to attack you there. Otherwise see below.
All the other things you describe sound like typical symptoms of mixing different versions during one playthrough. Did you install a newer version of the patch without starting a new game? Or maybe Galaxy's autoupdate reversed to the patch currently use in the gog version between your game sessions?

on my original play with the ventru, no I did not mix updates with the save. used what downloaded from GOG. 10.2(I recall) But I downloaded the 11.1 patch from moddb started a new character and everything seems to work fine now. :)

I installed the game about a month ago. I do not know if GOG did an auto of this game. I am now going to disable that feature for safety reasons of games.

If you use galaxy, it does update unless you disable the feature. We had many complaints similar to yours since bloodlines is available here on GOG, and most were caused by galaxy reverting the game to the patch used here.

Ill remember that with all my heavily modded games. I have several that are. Independance War, KotoR2, System Shock 2 so forth. this community patch thing is a great thing to have. much appreciated! most of the stuff I played prior to it in the classic version make sense now. I, of course started a new PC after patching to 11.1.

Sad this game is like Warband. You can only use one mod at a time otherwise the game won't work. At least that's how its always been presented.

Kell91: So did you just ignore the rest of my post or is there a vanilla download option I'm missing?
avatar
wesp5: No, if you download the GOG release you get two versions in one, similar to the basic and plus patch you get when downloading the Unofficial Patch. After it installs you have two shortcuts on your desktop, one for the patched game and one for the vanilla game, it's as easy as that! And of course the vanilla game uses only the DRM and memory fixes. This is due to the fact that the Unofficial Patch runs from its own subfolder, but maybe GOG should be more clear about that on their website...
Can you help me? I haven't found the unofficial patch, and I'm unsure how to mod GOG games.

You can download the patch from moddb.com .
Just download, run the installer and select what you want. This will overwrite the patch that comes preinstalled in the gog version. So it's important that you either don't run bloodlines with Galaxy or disable Auto Update for bloodlines. Otherwise Galaxy's auto updater will restore gogs base patch the next time you run the game.
Since the new patch is installed in the same directory as the one coming with gog, you can use either the new launch icon created by the patch's installer or the launch icon for the patch that was created by your gog installation. (Delete the one you don't use)
Just remember (this is so important I can't repeat it often enough): Turn off Galaxy's auto update and start a new game every time you install a new patch.

Fighting the good fight.
I`ve been reading through this thread but I`m still not sure about something specific:

How vanilla is the game if I just start the game with the vampire.exe without the Unofficial_Patch command line in the desktop shortcut? Will this be equivalent to a pure and unaltered 1.2 version?

The reason I`m asking is that I`m going to try another mod but I need the files in the Vampire folder to be unaltered by any other mod. Beside that I know that some dll files in the Vampire folder is newer, but will these conflict with any other mods?

If you play GOG legacy the Vampire folder files will not be touched and the changed dlls should not affect any other mod, as they only make the game run on modern systems, nothing more...

Thanks for your answer, wesp5 :)
Is there a patch or mod that adds a compass into the game? If so, where can I get one? And don't start on me that that the game is not too hard without a compass. It's not the difficulty, it's the boring waste of time trying to get one's bearing.
