Ok new game. Lets start thinking what the problem is. It must be huge to hold things up this long.

Go.

It's clear what happened. They were running out of room, so someone moved the servers to the back of a truck, forgot about them, drove 200 miles (pulling the power plugs and killing the forums in the process), then ran out of gas and realized what happened. Now we just have to wait for that individual to walk back with all the servers and we're gold.

Actually, I'd say it's more likely a problem with them delegating the task of upgrading the forums, followed by some kind of bureaucratic chaos that came with those people screwing up royally. Good help is hard to find these days, and there are a number of people who have the audacity to call themselves professionals while actually making the problem worse.
Actually, in all seriousnees, on their blog there was mention of an outside company that they fired for this mess.
Scary that a company that can code a game a beautiful as The Witcher 2 cannot code a forum for the game.

I used to be a server hardware/general grease monkey in an IT department. That theory isn't all that off-base...

Unfortunately, if it's a third-party problem, then it's just going to be a mess to fix. Bummer. Still, I think this forum is doing a decent job of filling in while we wait.

BlazeKING: New conspiracy: They are making steam users download 9 gig patches so they are forced to buy from GOG in the future.

:D
the 9 gig dloads are simply the result of a drunken bet that started
"just how stupid are steam buyers ?"
and the drunken steam exec saying
"watch this,a 9 gig dlaod everytime,i reckon they will riot at doing it once".

lol

While we're glad the GOG forum has been able to provide an alternate channel of communication for many players, we intended and still do intend to provide a focal point for the TW2 community in a way that no single board can.

We apologize again for the delay.

Thanks for the response. An estimate on when it will be up?

I'm guessing the response was to simply point out they do not know, but are not delaying on purpose & wish to convey something that says, "We haven't forgotten about you guys, not at all."

Edit: + rep to them for at least addressing where we currently stand & humbly apologizing.

Considering the duration of this situation, we want to be pretty confident before saying anything specific, even an ETA. When this is so, we will happily pass the info along to you.

Are you allowed to say what exactly happened? The whole situation is pretty strange. Thanks.

more like pretty fishy LOL.
From the main site:
The work on putting up our new forum takes a long time − much too long − and trust us, we are waiting for it as eagerly as you are. Our official site is being developed by an external company and we did not foresee the problems that ensued. Since the game's premiere we are trying to reach out to all The Witcher 2 users and provide them with answers to their questions. It would be much easier for us to communicate with you and provide fast and efficient support if we had a forum. We definitely hope that this inconvenient situation will come to an end soon.
Hurr durr, no shit they didn’t foresee it. Testing the thing beforehand might have prevented this disaster. Now, almost a month later and they still haven’t fixed it. I wonder if they know how foolish they look.
could you stop spewing verbal diarrhea and generally acting like an impatient twat? you're making yourself look like a nitwit. just fyi
