I'm a PC gamer and hate gamepads because I suck at using them.

However... Go on YouTube and search for extreme cube tricks in Portal 2. That dude is doing it on XBox and I doubt you can get any more precise, agile and fast than he is on any control method. It is all a matter of practice, not the input itself.

well... i can break down how that works...

since game-pads use "acceleration", they are constants while you must continue to move your mouse to acive the same effect as them holding down a button.

now because of that constant they can active a more stable throw. by just timing the release. its not truly more accurate, but it does lend itself better to constant movement speeds.
Damn these discussions are pathetic, it's an awesome game wether you sat on your couch with a pad or at your desk with a kb+m. Both work great so what the hell are people complaining about!!
Damn iOS and fancy forums, can't even reply.

I know how ot works, cloud, that was the point. This dude does some extreme precision shots that would be pretty hard to achieve on the "almighty" m+k, hence my argument that it's not the input that matters but rather users' skill with that particular mode of control.

I've played MoH on PS yeeeears ago and can't for the life remember how the he'll did I manage to play an FPS with a controller. It is possible though and not detrimental to gameplay in any way.

One thing I don't like about the wither is the "streamlined" inventory that doesn't let me to see shit without scrolling through heaps of stuff. Why oh why...
Agreed with the OP.
It's so sad that nearly every game these days is clearly developed for consoles, with the pc as an 'option'. It has almost become standard that we have to cope with crappy console controls and UI's. Even if the game is so called "developed with the pc as priority".

I think this can also be seen as some sort of provocation of pc-gamers and an invitation or encouragement for piracy, so to speak.
Offering a DRM free game might be a step in the right direction, but it takes more imo.
If you don't treat pc-gamers with some more respect, and keep giving them console-spinoffs as a cheap and fast solution, I seriously can understand that there are players who think you don't deserve the full price you ask.

Why not develop games with a seperate interface for pc-games, as an extra sign of dedication and quality. A sign that your game really is worth it's price.

I keep on buying these consolified games as a token of support, in the hopes that one day we can expect some 'real' pc games again. But so far I'm not seeing much in return. Frustrating and disappointing...

Devs/Publishers spend thousands upon thousands of dollars in cinematics, voice acting, etc. The games are almost movie-like. But a decent interface and control system stays too much to ask it seems. Sigh.

slophlong: You can change keybinds via the launcher, what are you talking about?
???????? Please dazzle me... how?

Either you or me are talking about an entirely different game

iirc it's bugged at the moment but will be fixed in the next patch. You can access it by Laucher-> Video And Language -> click on input settings. They can also be changed by editing a text file.

Have you checked "input settings" under the video and language option at the launcher?
Back to the OP

What is happening is that the X360 and the PS3 are lasting longer than usual, x360 is 6 years old and PS3 is 5 if I'm not mistaken; and there are no signs of future generation consoles, no announcements, no speculation, no nothing.

If PC games continue to advance as they can, X360 and PS3 will look too outdated. Sure it's common for PC games to be a little dumbed down when converted to console, but nowadays the difference would be too big.

PC games will only leap further when the next generation of consoles comes out, 'till then they are in a way limited as to how much they can offer without getting too much ahead of consoles.

Here follows one link about the issue from a developer perspective who feels the same way.

Well said End

Personally, as Ive said, I dont hate console games. If there is nothing else out at time ill take a look at the console games available as a back up concept. But im still primarily a PC player and I do expect more from PC titles then console style games.

The Witcher 2 is very JRPG stylized/influenced!

In a different thread they talked about having your standard mmorpg keyboard layout and I got to admit that would go along ways in fixing TW2 combat sequences (not boss fights as the boss fights still console style over PC style.

If I had on the 1,2,3,4... to + keys, attacks associated to them!

1= quick attack
2= strong
3= whirl (whirlwind)
4=

well you get idea and the TAB button was used to actually target and lock on opponent your focusing on, The Witcher 2 would be much better combat wise IMO!

Blocking and parrying and dodging should be a Percentage chance and automatic, not a button pushing skill. I mean if its up to you to push the button, why are we spending points on it to begin with??? Some character skills should be automatic with a percentage chance of working (and then CDProjekt would have more attributes for which the player could raise via mutagens, potions, equipment, training.

That would go along way in taking the twitch outta the encounters and giving the player some more control over it so how they handle the encounter up to them and them alone!

As for bosses, well I only done the first one so far but that encounter should be redesigned to utilize Geralts abilities more and player reflexes less!

Just some basic stuff
dont see how witcher 2 is "consolized" but hey internet is full of stupid people.

Thank you cd project for giving us the best game I have ever played.

People who disagree with you are stupid?
I can see that CDProjekt has built in features to allow an efficient console port, but I cannot agree that it has ruined the game. Yes, it's less exclusively pc, but a multi-year project like this has its best chance of being profitable if it is also multi-platform, and TW2 has retained more complexity than its major competitors. It even needs patching like any other major pc release. ;)

We can share our toys, ladies and gentlemen. The console cousins are not that bad.

except they are now denying that they are planning to port it at all.

cloud8521: the biggest clue of this is the forced 16:9 ratio. something that usually only happens on ports over from the xbox. never ever heard of a game that expected a pc used to have 16:9.
avatar
BlazeKING: We desperately need a PC conversion mod ;)

This game would be close to damn perfect if not for the console features

cloud8521: and active blocking :D.... *goes to corner* no one likes what i said
I own a 19'' x 10'' LCD monitor and to my knowledge the majority of which are wide-screen and 16:9 is a Helluva lot better than a 4:3 aspect ratio while using a wide-screen LCD! (Not to mention that TWI had the same 16:9 support)
Also, a lot of Tvs are widescreen as well, so that's not much of an indicator.
