HunchBluntley: Holy hand grenades! ...Well, at least there's two of you to speed construction along. Still, that must have taken a while!
I'm assuming you built the living wood tree, as opposed to building around an existing one?
Yeah, we built it last night with the idea that we use the space under its roots for potion making. I haven't come across a living tree in the clouds yet :)
What took so long about the damn thing is that I wanted my friend to have the last say about its design and theme, because it's his first time playing terraria, and he thought that the dungeon bricks had the best look. So we spent what felt like hours demolishing a big chunk of the dungeon to build it :P

Well, considering that you built all the rest of that in an evening, it wouldn't exactly be a stretch to imagine building the whole thing in a valley and making the cloud yourselves. ; )

The important thing is that you got someone else hooked on this insidious drug. =D

Oh I wish we were that fast! We worked off and on on the fortress for 4 nights. It was only the tree that we built that night.

Absolutely :)
After watching a couple episodes of one of the Terraria LPs I've been working my way through, I actually felt like doing a little building in the game (for once). I finally did some more work on my floating stronghold in my secondary world. It's still pretty simple and nowhere close to "finished", but it's the most construction I've done in this game (in either of my worlds) for a very long time. The stairwell and the large room with the balcony are the only new parts; previously, the bedchamber stood alone on the upper floor. Sadly, that's all the more I got done before I got bored.

Damn, that is really cool! My favorite part is the underground cathedral of sorts.
I've got two questions though:
1.) What is the 2 square big blue flames on those little pillars on the left made of?
2.) In the underground chamber, what is that above the switches? It looks like an illuminated + sign underneath some sort of futuristic pipe looking thing.

1: Looks like a pair of Living Frost Fire Blocks to me. You need to kill enemies in the hardmode Underworld to get the Living Fire Blocks, then combine those with Ice Blocks.

New update bump! (Since I'm not sure if BillyMaysFan59 is around here much any more.)
Me and my best friend finished our game yesterday, and here's what the base looked like when we said goodbye to Terraria. Was a great run. Definitely one of the best multiplayer experiences we've ever had over the close to 100 hours we played

It's a small detail in a rather impressive whole, but love the way you decorated your infirmary. Perhaps I should personalise my resident's village too, since I can manually affect them to their rooms :)

It's a lot of fun to personalize their lodgings :) Unfortunately my buddy didn't have a whole lot of interest in such details so we didn't decorate a lot of rooms. The infirmary was actually made that way to help with the final fight. We would take turns teleporting back to the base to have the nurse heal us, but the final boss creates a weird visual effect which made it difficult to spot the nurse. So we made the two red crosses to make her room stand out. But then we thought about simply making her room our spawning point, which is why there are two hospital beds :)

Clever :)

so far, only ciustomization I did was putting the explosive specialist in his own undergroung bunker at the entrance of the cellars. Looked appropriate to have him in a mining network, esp. sice he tends to fall in every hole/gallery I dic around the village (he loves to discuss with the traveling merchant at the bottom of my zombie traps).

But since my villages are beginning to look better than my "cluster of 2 story mud huts" first attempts, I think I'll do the next logical step and decorate :)
