Actually I already explained it to you. The publisher (Beamdog) decides how to sell the product they have acquired the rights to. Common practice. You know...because it INCLUDES licensing and DISTRIBUTION rights??? I spoonfed you this information earlier. Sorry it didn't stick. I will repeat it for you. When a company get the buy the rights to a franchise, it includes licensing and DISTRIBUTION.

I already purchased this game - the first game I bought on this site, in fact. But I'm going to wait to see how Beamdog handles the enhanced version of it before I purchase it. Does seem promising, though.

If you want to establish whether the letter was true or not, you can search for it in the forums, and report the result, even a negative one. That would add something to the discussion.

Thanks for bringing this up again. I've been wondering this, too. The last link is my post that you inspired last year with the previous batch of Beamdog bundling. I posted my letter to Hasbro (as a template - people always think someone else will do it, so I tried to make it easy) and their reply + other info in the hopes of getting others to do the same - no one ever said they did.

I never saw anyone post a WotC "blah, blah" reply anywhere as Stig79 suggests (not calling you a liar Stig79, but the burden of proof is on the plaintiff - claimant, in this case). From my experience going to both WotC and Hasbro, WotC was fairly clear that you should contact Hasbro about this matter.

But since Beamdog owns the distribution rights to Planescape and BG now, it is fairly obvious that they are calling the shots about how the game is to be sold.

That's fine. Anyway, Hasbro has the final say and, not trying to be rude, but doing something about it (other than bothering with Beamdog) will do more than complaining here. Go for positive action instead of negative. It may not work, but then again, it may.

Have you convinced anyone else to also do the same? Are you going to do anything else other than just passively-aggressively bitch, whine & moan on GOG's forums?

Like I said, Hasbro has the final say (they own WotC) and as ValamirCleaver basically said, if enough people let them know they're voting with their wallets they may decide unbundling is in their best interests. Let them know, otherwise nothing will change.

I didn't read the article, but I remember that. Sorry if it was in the article, but why would Beamdog pull their own product? As I remember, people on Steam were talking about it being a rights problem (besides being extremely buggy). How could they have a rights problem with themselves? Fans on Steam rejoiced when whatever rights problem was resolved and the EE returned, coming here also.
