In case of the first Baldur's Gate game it even has been for more than 3 years, at least outside of GOG (release date of the enhanced edition 28-11-2012, bundling 01-04-2016). It would be interesting to see which rank the enhanced editions had in GOG's best selling list before the bundling, compared to their current ranking. Unfortunately the WayBackMachine seems not to work well with GOG's game list and I couldn't find out their ranking at that time.

BG got bundled with the EE versions the same day SoD came out. April 1 2016.

Who is this "Someone" who supposedly directly received a direct response to a query directly inquiring as to why the original versions of the Infinity Engine were no longer available for purchase independent of Beamdog's Enhanced Editions? What was the direct, unaltered verbage of the "bla bla bla" part of which you're creatively quoting? When exactly did this "Someone" receive said response? What is the the name & title of the WotC representative that sent this "Someone" this response? Just the verifiable fact as opposed to unobjective hearsay...

BG1 and BG2 where always in top 25 of the most popular games. The EE edition were rarely in top 50-75. Often outside top 100. I very well remember this since this fact was widely commented on when the bundling happened.

Too bad that gog does not provide history of games sales; it would nicely prove the point against all those "fans" of Beamdog who claim that all new gamers want to purchase EE versions and that all those who wanted to purchase classic editions have already done that many years ago.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes Planescape to drop from the top 25 sales list as well, after it gets bundled with the EE version. Planescape has been near the top since it got released on GoG.

The developer decides the price and where a product is to be sold though. Common practice. EA decides what Star Wars Battlefront costs and where + how they sell it.

Beamdog only secured the rights to make new versions on those classic games from WOTC, that's it really. WOTC didn't task them with a job they themselves wanted done.

If WOTC had been the publisher, it might have been different. But guess what? They aren't.

Good memory! As far as I can see on the WayBackMachine BG2 has been at rank 2, BG1 at rank 6 and IWD at rank 13 of GOG's best selling games in March 2016, before the bundling. And none of the enhanced editions has been within the top 50.

As far as I understand it the entry for the original version of PS:T will be removed from the catalog as soon as the enhanced edition is released. So it will disappear from the top 25 immediately. The enhanced edition already has it's own catalog entry and is currently at rank 853 of the best selling games.

Where can you find the ranking of the best selling games that you mentioned in your post? I was always curious to see which games are the most popular here but couldn't find any stats on sales.

I believe they're referring to the list you get when you click on the Games tab in the top left corner. It's by default arranged by Bestselling. I don't think there are any actual numbers available on sales, only the possibility to order the games by bestselling, and counting down to the position. 50 games visible at once.

Probably takes years for games to become bestsellers on GoG anyway. I am guessing a lot of the earliest releases are on the list just due to having been sold for more years than others.

There are no real sale stats on GOG. But you can sort the game list "by bestselling", as Keppa4v already has written. That's what I was referring to.

As far as I know it's best selling ever. The list at the front page under "popular" shows the short term ranking.

Having been added early of course helps, but that alone isn't enough to get to the top of the list. The game still has to be good. ;)
