The update edits the core engine and world generation and also adds teleportation framework which eludes to the enabling of the new/old portals...

the update is massive in scope and code but limited content... i can see where its heading and it makes sense that the mods are breaking... just gotta diff merge to the new code and fix them.

The video looks damn impressive and Im really excited to see where it goes from here.

I've only been able to play for a few minutes so far, but the performance is much better (I've turned off all the tweaks I had to use before in the nvidia panel, and it's running better than it did before), when you scan planets you get an overview of the dominant minerals, the asteroids appear in belts instead of being omnipresent, and when scanning planetside, it shows exactly what resources you're seeing instead of just having generic icons :)
Has anyone been able to successfully load a pre-update save?

Every single save I have tried loading fails to load (and I have hundreds of save backups {did not try all but have done a reasonable sample across the range}). I even tried loading Day 1 saves from when the game released.

I get the HelloGames logo.

I get to see the 3 save loading options and I it will have the date of the save for the normal mode).

I try loading and the game just exits.

No MODs in use. No ReShade in use.


EDIT: Nevermind, even trying to start a new game same result.

Whe comes the update out?
Im on version 1.1 and ingame some new things like icon when i scanned shoowing a homebase building i can claim.

I use old save no problem.
TAA+FXAA zero jagged edges.

All max settings in 1440p give me around 70fps.

Game seems looking bit better overall.

I crash in bordeless but not in fullscreen.

Cause can be my OC on my Fury X and afterburner in background?

Not sure if i can bring myself starting all over again on survival?

At least nice we got decent update again.

Very nice, and that is the way to do a release with patch notes, so thank you HG for finally syncing that better :)

As for the update itself, for those falling out their prams this is the 'base' they are building the rest of the game from, just the start of a bunch of new content and things that we doubt wanted to see from the start (perhaps? we shall see).

I've very happy to read in the patch notes that they have overhauled the waypoint system, that needed to happen as a top priority, more so with this type of new content.

I'll wait a little while before updating, i'm enjoying my current game and will leave the crash-testing for other brave souls ;)

Still waiting on my standalone update. Galaxy client received the update 4 hours ago. I am sure GOG has their reasons for doing it this way, but it still feels like a f-u to the customers. You can do better, GOG!
Yea.. Waiting here as well.. It has been the same for all previous updates for NMS as well. GOG updating last.. :-(
Yep, not in my updates folder yet (1.09.1 is the last update available). It is Sunday, so i'm prepared to play the waiting game that non galaxy users seem to have to put up with.
I must say I'm impressed and certainly wasn't expecting any updates, let alone something of this scope.
Sadly for HG no amount of improvements is going to get rid of most of the negative reviews on steam and metacritic.

Maybe this will server as a lesson to future publishers who feel the need to set deadlines for release.
Next time take a lesson from the way Blizzard do it. It aint released till it's ready and polished.
I just played like 3 hours with the new update.
Don't want to sound negative, but after an hour it just all felt familiar boredom all over again, when I noticed, that base building is great for some, while I was waiting for better upgrades for the tool and the suit and the ship.
For example, there is still no upgrade for the scanner on the ship. My multi-tool is still maxed out at 24.
I think I played too much after release, now the whole thing just feels kinda stale to me.
Honestly, I don't care about building a base.
I guess I'm waiting for the next patch.
I'm rather surprised that they added so much more to the game. I was 4 planets in, when I put the game aside. But I'm glad they are still updating it. I didn't feel like it was a bad game.

It felt more like a solid foundation of a game, and just needed features. Now the game has some more life to it. So I'm rather pleased by this update.

Now I have a reason to come back to it.
Well I've played for a few hours and here is what I have figured out.

There are 2 types of bases (I think) that you can have.

1- Freighter (mobile base) [untested]
2- Land locked base

There are no more signal scanners anywhere, you must build your own with the Z key.
X key is now the fast menu, got surprised when I was trying to switch to my blaster.
G key switch modes (formely X)

Freighter and land base have a storage of 1000 for resources (10 for cubes / gravitino's etc.)
All your previous stacks are gone btw, poof into thin air.

Freighters are quite expensive and subject to pirate attacks. First one is around 7 million, second was 10, etc.

Either will require building work stations and recruiting specialists to man them (Gek / Vykeen and Korvax)

Oh and for anyone scratching their heads, voltaic cells are learned from your scientist (Korvax).
Some resources now require specialised upgrades only available from your base specialists.
Ex: Chrisonite now requires a "advanced" laser to mine with your tool.
