Haven't downloaded this yet but a new experimental patch seems to take us to 1.60. Since Hello Games doesn't consider GOG users to be worthy of having this information I copied and pasted the notes from steam forums:

"Experimental Branch update 14/09 applies the following Experimental-only fixes:

•Fixed an issue where Alien Multi-Tools change stats between 1.59 and 1.60

•Fixed an issue that caused NPCs to all sound like Vy'keen

•Fixed an issue that caused the quick menu to open when using arrow keys

•Fixed an issue that caused base parts to be placed accidentally while navigating the build menu

•Fixed some missing audio in the Quicksilver shop

•Fixed a number of issues with some Quicksilver decals

•Fixed an issue that could cause no dialog options to appear when talking to Nada after finishing the Atlas Path

•Fixed a crash in region generation"

Its not a real patch yet. I guess the steam experimental patches are "beta test" patches similar to what you get when you activate "Beta Channels" in same gog games settings in galaxy. It did not took long for 1.59 to arrive here too as soon as it left experimental on steam.

I'm kind of sadglad its not here. I mean I really want that patch. But reading how many game hours the 1.59 killed for lots of players I'm somewhat glad I do not have to fight the temptation to DL 1.60 experimental and potentially mess up my save because its still beta.

Don't forget that you have to not only turn on beta channels in Galaxy, but in the "channel box" you have to also select "experimental beta", otherwise you won't get the EB patches. I'm running the experimental now--really very nice, imo.

Have not really looked into it, but now I got curious and am currently DLing. When you read tomorrow in the news that somewhere in Germany a PC went berserk and killed an entire neighborhood after strangling its user with his powercord and raping the kitchen equipment than it was too experimental for my game. :P
Hmmm.... weird noisy engine sounds on my ship. And shape 3 of the new body shapes in full size is just another dude shape (well, or extremely manly shaped female). Too bad.

Regardless, experimental was the only place where this week's community mission was posted.

Something that has not been tested or verified was how the timer was set in their programming. If you have only about five days left in this week's community mission then it would indicate that waiting for the new version might mean not receiving the community mission updates or possibly receiving them with too little time to complete. Not that the quicksilver provides anything truly meaningful, at least as yet.

Backing up saved games has always been a wise policy anyway due to the limited number of save slots. I always do before installing any new version of the game as well as routinely backing them up or before doing something that I wanted to test.

At various times Hello Games has strongly urged players to perform manual backup of saved games before installing a new version as earlier saves might be broken by the final version of a particular release.

...;) Caution...I just attended a funeral for someone who plugged in a nVidia GPU--blew up his house and took out five city blocks at the same time...! Only missed my house by 50'...while we're spinning yarns, did you hear the one about the moose who lost his head? Well....

(j/k, of course!)
Not sure if I should laugh or cry but today I heard a new one: "Bro Man's Sky"... :/

Sounds legit; also bound to happen if it detects leftover ATI/AMD drivers :P
The preferred game distributor for PC has another experimental-only update listed with changes that are copied and pasted below. I launched the game but the patch does not yet appear on GOG.

Experimental Branch update 19/09 applies the following Experimental-only fixes:
•Fixed an issue where players could get stuck in the Space Anomaly geometry.

•Fixed an issue where Hexite could continue to spawn after the relevant community event.

•Reduced audio volume of ships flying past freighters.

•Improved interaction camera positioning on Boundary Failure objects.

EDIT: They should also be incorporating the next community mission. Last week the experimental build was released and the mission started the following calendar day.

I'll wait it out a bit & stay on 1.59. Read on steam that they did not fixed some of the 1.60 sound issues and since I currently have only a mobile base on my capital ship that would be very annoying. Also on closer inspection new bodys are all just dudes again, so no siren call which could lure me either ;)

About that Hexite spawn; I can assume animals are not meant to poop Hexite but Coprite? I never tried to fed them before the event.

Looks like there is a new patch to 1.6 available to all. Release notes are at https://www.nomanssky.com/2018/09/development-update-1-60/

They inserted graphics into the list of changes so it is simpler to just follow the link.

I started downloading the 'manual install' files (no Galaxy) but file names contain the word 'experimental'...

You might want to submit a support request to GOG for confirmation. My guess is that 1.60 is exactly the same as the Experimental from yesterday so no file updates occurred for me but that is only a guess.

I was already running experimental and what I saw in Galaxy was that a patch didn't seem to be downloaded and Galaxy just checked files and then changed my version from Experimental to Unknown (often appears instead of "Experimental" and finally to 1.60.

Since it took so long to get this patch out they did not issue a new weekly community mission. Instead it is a repeat of last week's mission which was only available on Experimental (kill sentinels).

Thank you!

It is unclear where we stand with experimental patches right now and GOG Support wasn't quite able to address this because Hello Games is not following common configuration management practices but there have been some recent updates to experimental that may have been delayed or not made available to GOG purchasers. Dates listed are from the date of the post by Hello Games on either the preferred PC distributor's forums or the NMS website. This will be confusing because of the lack of version identification. Experimental only applies to those that have enabled receiving the experimental updates (AKA Beta Channels in GOG Galaxy) as follows:

On September 24, 2018 there was an update to experimental identified in Hello Games posts in Steam forums with four changes listed. This update was not available in Galaxy until sometime late on September 26 or perhaps the 27th.

On September 26, 2018 another update to experimental of two changes reported by Hello Games posts in Steam forums.

On September 27, 2018 release notes were issued for version 1.61 per the No Man's Sky website. Also on this day GOG Support reported that 1.61 had been released on September 25, 2018 but that there were no changes from the previous experimental version so all that should have changed was the version listed in Galaxy going from experimental to 1.61. Although I noted this, the changes in version did not appear in Galaxy until September 27, 2018.

Since the dates do not match it is not known if the September 26 update to experimental was released to GOG but this appears unlikely.
