Whitecroc: Homestuck is doing a Kickstarter for a spin-off adventure game.

So far merely in the planning stages, and the game won't be out until 2014 at the earliest, as Andrew Hussie wants to finish the comic before starting serious work on it, which will happen sometime in 2013.

Considering this is, like, my favoritest webcomic evar I pledged 25 boondollars for the digital download + soundtrack.
Amazing how this project reached almost $843K in only 4 days.
They have stretch goals up to $1,250,000 but Kicktraq trend to $6,500,000 actually o-o

From what I recall it usually tapers off after a few days, then picks up during the last two days or so. I'm gonna guess it will hit 1.1M$ at the current rate.
I'd like to plug Jetpack 2. The demo link is here: http://www.jetpackhq.com/ IMHO a must have for platform junkies. It's the original game plus they've added a proper physics engine and some nice new features like darkness and hidden rooms.

And Enclave Eyewear. Sunglasses at a midranged price. Polarized with T90 memory plastic and only $30 each.

And yeah, I can understand if you don't want to list either on page one. But they do deserve a shout out anyways.

Wow these look pretty sweet for a day at the beach. The "enclave" label is jarring though. Should be slightly smaller and more subtle.

Arakion: First person party-based RPG. Looks pretty interesting, but it seems really ambitious for $25,000, even if a lot of it's already been made.. Also, note: This Chris Taylor is neither Total Annihilation & Dungeon Siege Chris Taylor nor Fallout Chris Taylor. It's an entirely different Chris Taylor. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lavidimus/chris-taylors-arakion

EDIT: Just watched the pledge video and explored the site a bit, looks like he has more in place than I thought he did. It looks potentially pretty cool, and I like the character development systems he has in place, might go ahead and back it.

Does that make this guy "that other, other Chris Taylor who is not that other Chris Taylor"?

Yep. I think I'll just call him TOOCTWISNTOCT for short.

Always nice to see developers show up here, hi! :)

I do actually have one question: In the developer's diaries on your site, the level you showed seems to be very linear. Will there be more open areas or dungeons with branching paths later on?

Hey!

Yes, there will be lots of open areas intermingled with the more linear areas. So no frets there. The open areas wont be infinitely spacious but there will be a range from small to large open areas.

Hey welcome to the forums.

The game looks interesting, but my concern is the party of 3. How does that work out for their roles? Other blobbers like M&M and Wizardry have bigger parties, so you usually end up min-maxing and specializing each character to fill an individual role. A party of 3 sounds a bit limited in that sense.

I'm also very concerned about the items and skill sets. How many skills and items are planned?

Lastly, regarding the 50K stretch goal: if I were to back the project, I would want to see more in-game content rather than a card game. Maybe that's just me, and maybe the majority would want a card game, but I know I'll be less inclined to back a higher amount, knowing that we won't be getting more content.

Because of how the character development system is setup, you can't really min max in the traditional sense. I went with a party of three because it makes your choices matter more. I always found in games where you have 6 party members I had a few worthless characters that were there, but not really substantial, and I always ended up with 1 powerhouse character that didn't really need the rest of the group.

With three each decision has a heavier impact and all three characters feel like powerhouses throughout the game, relying on each other and specialized in multiple roles. Also because of how characters develop in the game, each character "should" develop at a constant rate in relation to the other characters.

4 Skills for each character each that are extremely customize-able. Essentially I've tried to eliminate redundancy, instead of having 5 damage skills that all do the same thing you have 1 that you can customize to your liking.

I can understand your thoughts with the 50k goal, regardless however any additional money goes to adding additional content in the game, these are just guaranteed perks. If it gets to 50k chances are good along with the card game you'll see more dungeons and monsters and puzzles.

Good questions, thanks for asking them.

Edit cause I forgot
There are lots of weapons and armor in the game. Each weapon and armor is dependent on the class you happen to pick and you don't find armor or weapons laying around in the traditional sense. Instead you'll find materials and blueprints and use those to forge your equipment, and the way the equipment system is setup it allows for a massive possibilities of armor and weapons, as each piece of equipment is a product of previous equipment.

If you haven't, get Might & Magic 7 and play the tavern card game Arcomage - I lost more hours to that one then I'd want to admit....

Thanks. It all actually sounds quite interesting, now that you've explained in greater detail. Regarding the 4 skills, can you elaborate more on them? What are they?

Glad to hear that there will definitely be more content as the pledges move up, btw :)
