KneeTheCap: Did they actually promise a DRM-free version?
Yes, they did so in a very clear way in the FAQ of the Kickstarter Page. No room for any misunderstanding there.

Niggles: If you read jamyskis post, as a dev how long would you estimate it takes?. We all want the single player without the multiplayer aspect (many backers didn't care for factions tbh).

Siannah: I'm not a dev, don't have any insight into Steamworks, have no idea what Stoic did / didn't do, how much experience that 1 guy programming had with it nor how many possible traps there are and he managed to hit or not.
Now why should I even guess in the first place? Write 10 possible scenarios on your wall, blindly throw a dart at it and you get an estimation with the same worth - nothing.

Which is exactly what I'm criticising. There's so much thrown in that lacks ANY facts, but get's picked up as if it is so. If I don't have facts, I'll go with uneducated guesses? Sry no, I refuse to go down that road.

I pointed out what we can do and where it might help. Ranting here, doesn't. End of saga.
I thought u mentioned u were a dev? apologies if its my mistake
The thing is, has the dev said *anything* aside from the generic its coming soon/or being worked on?. I don't expect any specifics but more information would have been nice especially since its now way past the original release date

Yup, and they answered that there will be a GOG release when we asked for one. So I wil be very pissed if they don't.
And I'm somewhat irritated that Steam got the first pick. Told them so on their forum and in the KS comments.

But I backed that game in the wee hours of 2012, so a few more weeks of wait seems... tame. Irritating, sure, but nothing I will go to war about.

yep, we don't have facts, and that is the problem

on the kickstarter page, under the "game" section, the very first bullet point states "DRM-free" - you'd say this is a fact, but obviously it isn't

but you are right that being angry (or in my case amused) doesn't solve anything...
They can't be postponing it coming here out of piracy fear, that wouldn't be rational. Banner Saga Steam version was up on pirate bay cracked on day 1

Yeah it seems irrational but when someone asked why kalypso hasn't put Demonicon on GoG after they put Omerta here one of the stated reasons was, amongst other things, increased chance of piracy.
The cracked steam version of that game was available on day one(or earlier).

I'm not sure what the reasoning is behind such a thinking but it seems to be there.
I'm just frustrated at the lack of information. It seemed GOG was under the impression that we were set to get the release on the 14th just like everyone else, but then they ran into some technical issues. It's been two weeks :/ It would be nice to know what is going on and when to expect the game.

Well, that's not sure : GOG put the announcement several days after the steam release.

But I assumed it, yeah, like you and everyone else

Mmmmmh. Maybe? He doesn't say clearly that they expected the game for the 14, but it may be interpreted as such.

Riiiiiight...

Maybe they were just pissed that the gog community awarded their game has one of the worst ratings on this site and that their DLCs caused a huge outcry.

http://forum.kalypsomedia.com/showthread.php?tid=18217 in german sorry.

I believe the main reason for the decision was, the sales of omerta on here being bad(it is a bad game imo), but i also believe that the guy actually believes it when he says the chance for piracy is much higher.
Publisher are weird.

"Atticus @Atticusmj · 12h

@StoicStudio Any news about DRM-free copy?

Stoic @StoicStudio · 10h

@Atticusmj We're getting close - trying to patch it as much as possible before putting the DRM free version out there

1:35 PM - 30 Jan 2014 · Details"

If this is the way they are going to treat customers who wait for the drm free version, is anyone here going to wait for their 2nd and 3rd installment?. this is getting really silly.
Get niggling feeling at back of my mind they are trying to go on the cheap and patch the drm free version once (people seem to go on about how it costs devs $$$ to patch games blah blah blah)

GOG should remove this game from their list:

Over 1 month in "coming soon" status. A new record on GOG.com?
