Sashh: They are also deliberately delaying GOG release in hope to sell more Steam versions.
avatar
G-Doc: I'm sure that's not the case. Personally, I believe the devs have encountered some actual technical issues.
I've just read somewhere the reason is much more prosaic - the devs are simply afraid of piracy so they're waiting with the DRM-free release as long as possible...

silly though, considering the steam version has been "DRM-freevified" a couple of days ago :(

That would be a really tragic decision...
People that use to pirate games would a.) not buy the game anyway b.) or try it as a "demo" and buy the game afterwards. But when a developer creates a great game he is proud of and has trust in it's quality, there are always enough honest customers to appreciate it. CD Projekt shows the way...

Absolutely true . This is moronic idea .

Speaking of CD Projekt, TBS devs should have recalled that pirates chose to DRM-freevify the steam version of The Witcher 2 rather than download and share one off GOG.

FWIW, I gave away the steam code.
Well, I personally played a pirated version of Witcher 2, I still purchased here on GOG, but I ain't playing no censored shit

Starmaker: "DRM-freevify"
did I just invent a word? :D

(if I did I really should have put more thought in it)

I'm not pro-DRM nor pro-Steam. No idea where you're pulling that from. Yes, it might be that they are pulling a Rockstar tactic here, delaying it because of irrational piracy fears. Do we know that? Nope. That's all.

Skysect: I think he is a fanboy ;) It's perfect explanation.
Where are your facts? I haven't seen any. All you guys brought up are assumptions of what could be. Assumption != fact.
And that all based on what? This blue post here:

You guys not only missed the "Personally" and "I believe" part, you also completely and flat out ignored the first sentence.
Facts? You don't have any and if you do, you haven't shown them. Full stop.

.... and now that you're running out of arguments, because you don't have any facts beyond guesswork to prove them, you're going for personal attacks and slander, trying to shut up others by labeling them as fanboys. Well played guys.

I've just read somewhere..... are you guys for real? Oh, you read something somewhere on the internet, so it must be true then, hm?
/em shacking head in disbelieve

Guys. How about heading over to Stoics board and asking them? Preferable in a nice tone without being prejudgmental?

Based on defending developer . I can't see any reason for defending them . There is no explanation about delay . Completely bullshit .

I didn't say it was a fact or the truth, I just said that I read is somewhere :) be cool, we're all just impatient and want the game to appear here asap ;)

In other words: you don't know. You just assumed it to be so, because the devs didn't explained it any further than they did. Your facts? None.
And if someone demands some facts to back up your assumptions beyond guesswork, they must be opposing fanboys.. .... I think we're done here.

I'm completely cool about it. It wasn't me throwing made-up shit around as if it's the truth, despite that I dislike the (pretty much unexplained) delay as much as anyone else does.
And please check the replies to your "discovery".... it didn't came over as "it is so"? Goddamit guys, you're better than that!

while I don't think this forum is a place where only verified facts can be expressed, I do understand that my sentence could have been perceived as something trustworthy, so I'm sorry about that :)

believe me, I'd never write anything like that in an official game forum where potential customers might read it...

anyhow, being cool and using the s-word? not cool where I come from ;)
Hm, after seeing Spoony playing this on his live-stream today I most definitely want this game. :) I don't mind waiting a little longer for the DRM-free release.

Hope they include the soundtrack with the GOG-release.

I emailed the devs on kickstarter right after i found out and i still have yet to have a reply at all. Figures. I highly doubt posting on the forum will do any good either. It doesnt help when people waiting for drm free seem to be happy (as if we have a choice) to wait.

By the way guys, for all intents and purposes even those who wanted drm free only might as well take a steam code as well since the dev's for whatever reason is supplying drm free copies to ALL backers :/

"A DRM-free version of the game is under development now and we are still working with GOG to distribute soon. This will also be available to all backers even if you downloaded a Steam copy."
