AmadeusHein: It's all about what we promise to deliver, and these guys promised to deliver a DRM-free version to its paying costumer base.
I backed Armikrog and Mighty No. 9 for the console versions and i doubt they'll get released at the same day as the PC version. They promised the console versions. Same applies to people who backed Shadowrun Returns for the iOS/Android version, which still hasn't been released as far as i'm aware (while the PC versions came out in june last year). They have promised a tablet version.
Let me reiterate that i know that making a port is obviously harder than simply releasing a DRM-free version, but still there is some work involved.
AmadeusHein: Though they're having technical problems, which has to be understandable -- they should keep an open communication.
Yes, they should definitely keep an open communication. That i agree with. I just don't agree with the notion that they have to release the Steam and the DRM-free version at the same time by all means necessary, even if it means delaying the already finished Steam version. I mean, really? I don't think it's reasonable to request that they delay the Steam version until the DRM-free version is ready. Why sit on an already finished product? And it's obvious that PC developers will always go for the Steam version first. It's undeniable that Steam has the largest market share on the digital market by a long shot.
In fact i would be more pissed at them if they had artificially delayed an already finished product. This is the reason why i refuse to buy Rayman Legends. I found Ubisoft's decision to delay the already finished Wii U version for MONTHS just to match the release date for the Xbox 360/PS3 version to be really ridiculous. So, no, i'm not supporting Ubisoft on Rayman Legends. If i do buy it one day i'll make sure to buy a second-hand copy so Ubisoft doesn't get one single cent from me.
