Any new updates on when FOG will get the game? I was hoping for a one or two day delay.

Yeah, it'd be cool to get it here today... :)

Kardwill: Dunno. I'm 6 hours in, and still in the middle of chapter 3 (Don't know how many there are. At least 5)
And it's very replayable : While playing, I'm often gritting my teeth and envisionning how I'll do it differently next time to avoid loosing this character, or sending these people to their death.

Kunovski: are you sure it's just a bad luck you keep losing characters and sending people to death? I bet all the playthroughs do have sacrifices...
Nah, just plain bad (or difficult) decisions from me, that make me cringe when I see the consequences.
And I know I will lose people on my second playthrough. Probably more important/pleasant ones, too ;) (my 2 lost characters for now are pretty minor losses, from a story point of view, although their absence is hurting me bad tactically)

When it's sufficiently misty. :)
I'm one of those Kickstarter backers who somewhat pissed off by this DRM-free version delay. Why we have to wait for DRM-free version of Banner Saga? What is the meaning of "under development"? How it is that there isn't any DRM-free version of the game? Did they build their game on Steam's system? This all seems bullshit to me. I'm waiting for DRM-free version while pirates already released one at torrent sites.

By the way I'm agree that gog must announce its' future releases early. In order to support indie RPG companies I buy their games, mostly at day one. For example I bought Aarklash on Steam after waiting 3 weeks, only to find three days later it was on gog.com.
There's a 13 page thread on GOG with roughly about 1/2 of it complaining about the delay of the DRM-free version. I understand the frustration and see why some accusations come up.

What I don't understand is: why is it, that on the official forum in the Kickstarters section is 1 thread about the DRM-free version with exactly 4 replies in it and none of the questions raised here?

Because the devs aren't actually replying or addressing issues related to it. On the kickstarter itself comments about DRM free are drowned out by either players just playing the game or drm free backers happy to wait (they should be the ones questioning the devs decision to delay the release) or people who are steam fans.
Do you honestly think a dev will actually explain the decision behind the delay and details about the technical problem?. In all honesty im disappointed with 'delay is due to a technical problem". Do you think the bulk of the users (Steam) would accept that if it affected them

It's very likely that this is because they first built Banner Saga: Factions as a base and then built The Banner Saga on top of that.

- Kickstarter page comments section: last one mentioned DRM-free release was Andrew Houghton 1 day ago, 8 more comments after that - drowned looks different for me.
- official ask me anything on reddit, 10 January - no questions about DRM.
- official forum - no one even asked, but you expected answers?

Do you honestly expect an answer because you ranted on a message board the devs (3 guys) probably didn't even have the time to read, while asking them on THEIR board was too much to ask from you?

Fair call. All backers here should ask the question on the kickstarter page, or even just mention it like that andrew houghton character did.

How is Aarklash?

Celton88:
Aarklash will kick you in the nuts and you will enjoy it. Think of it as mechanics based only. The story is sparse, and the focus is entirely on the gameplay.
Just watch out for the effect it has on your video card. It shoots up the temperature by 40F for no reason. I had to set it to garbage graphics for that reason.

Good to know. I actually really enjoy stories, but who knows. I'll check it out on a sale.

Celton88:
It had a slightly unique premise, and there definitely could have been some work put in to flesh it out a lot more than it was. That part was definitely lacking when it didn't need to be.

But gameplay is Aarklash's bread and butter, so.

You can think of it as a lite version of Icewind Dale. A linear game with much emphasis on tactical combat. Combats are RTwP and fun. Nice graphics.
