You don't seem to understand that your rep is not the number under your avatar. You have created a reputation that is based on your posts, attitude and passive / aggressive responses to those trying to help you. That number does not mean anything in reference to you. You seem oblivious to the fact that you are on an international forum which is populated by many nationals, races, religions etc. etc. You offend on a daily basis and the result is your actual "real" reputation which is held by the community members. It's reached the point, IMHO, where you have created a rep that causes many to down rep you, not necessarily for the post content, for being a ignorant arse.

I can't tell you how to fix your reputation but you could start but understanding some of your posting is offensive to an international community. Spam posting every other post in a thread may be offensive to some. Using profanity can be offensive to some. I can type profanity, make offensive posts, whine constantly just as well as you can but chose not to do so. You have the same option.

I get it, really I do. I find it hard to believe in this day and age that kings and Queens exists as well. My point to TinyE is that he is on an international forum where there will be folks that find his post about the horns .. offensive and respond accordingly with a neg rep.

This story is overshadowing the bigger news story for the UK that online pornography is about to switch to an opt-out system, with no real indication of which sites will be considered pornographic, if it's just sites which hold some pornographic content etc. If [random baby heir] wasn't being born, I'm pretty sure there'd be outrage over it (even though there are some parts to the announcement I agree with.)

I have the feeling I'm going to end up needing to ring BT to turn the pornography on so I can watch cat videos on youtube.

Did your posts have anything to do with the topic in which you posted them? Was the topic with the pasty picture about meat pies by any chance? I'm going to go on a limb here and assume it wasn't.

An apology is absolutely worthless if 5 minutes after you apologize you do the exact same thing for which you apologized. Why shouldn't it get a down rep when it's a bullshit apology and you clearly don't mean it?

Indeed. On the other hand, I find it worrying that our governments are formed by holding a spin/popularity contest every few years, and the victor is usually the one that can convince enough people that they are the least incompetent.

Swings and roundabouts, really :-)

I do agree with SirPrimalform, though. The impression I get is that most people in the UK generally aren't too bothered. Can't say as I would vote for a Republic myself, if given the choice, but I wouldn't cry if the majority did.

xyem: Truthfully, I put a little effort into making a system that records the rep of those who want a record of it at specified intervals and that's all. SLOC specific to RepLog is about 25-30.

I'm not sure why some people have confused me saying "It can be used for X" as meaning "I made it to do X". I didn't even mention rep abuse in my list of reasons I thought it would be helpful.[1]

Someone else brought it up and then I explained how it could be used to highlight potential victims, then I got into an argument with yyahoo because apparently having actual numbers instead of "I think I lost some rep today!" doesn't constitute as solid evidence in their mind..
