It probably reflects that I've only given a sensible amount of time to a tenth of the games I've bought on this site, and the price was too high for an impulse buy. I've got most of the Bioware back catalogue to play through before I get to new RPGs... Spend most of my time iRacing at the moment, then filling the gaps with Red Dead Redemption and EECH.

GameRager: I wanr ro buy this and support gog but I also want the two coins and cards/dice from the CE.....what to do.
Well GOG is a part of the same company, so buying the CE will certainly help the company as a whole, even if not GOG specifically.
Damunam if you're going to defend it then at least do so with sensible arguments.

I mentioned nothing about wanting it cheaper, but it's got to be competitive. I'm not paying more for less.

"Yes. We will never sell our customers games with DRM."

So either that's two pieces of nonsense they need to remove from the website or the physical version won't have DRM.

Because of course losing something intangible like a password is so very much harder than losing a physical object.

Gog will never sell its customers games with DRM, so gog's version of TW2 is DRM free. Gog won't be selling retail copies of TW2 though, so different ball game.

You can easily retrieve a lost password. Hell, we've had folks here who locked themselves out of their accounts completely, password and email, and yet they retrieved their accounts with support's help.

Is everything under premium edition content(papercraft, maps, letters, bonus videos, etc) in the CE? I mean obv. it wouldn't include the stuff under exclusives or the bonus photo tour and wallpapaers, but is that it? Is the rest [pretty much the same?
$44 is fair for a new release, but is still quite heavy for somebody used to waiting at least a few months. Still, I'm tempted. But I have a few questions.

Firstly, how do you intend to handle patches. With The Witcher AFAIK you needed to go through Impulse if you wanted to update the game, and until very recently that was completely unfeasible for me. I'm still not keen on the idea. GOG's normal approach is to quietly replace the installers with newer ones, which is also less than ideal. Are you going to have a better system for updating the game? (like having the latest 1.0-1.x patch downloadable as an extra, and runnable without Internet)

Secondly, how important is it for the experience to have played The Witcher before The Witcher 2?

If you buy from GOG you get 4 extra tracks as well. But having the artbook as a proper book and not a PDF is one hell of a counterbalance.

I think that was just Impulse that made you use it, because I know I got the retail patches from elsewhere.

From what I've heard, they designed TW2 to be playable without playing the original, but I highly recommend it anyway. Like many here, I believe that the original will come here, either within the next few weeks, or a few weeks before 2 comes out. Personally I'm expecting it sooner rather than later to give people time to play through it before 2 comes out.

Yeah, you only had to get the patches from Impulse if you bought the game through them. Otherwise, you could just register your game on CDProjekt's The Witcher website and grab the patches from there (likely there were other places that hosted the patches as well, although not officially sanctioned).
For The record, I would suggest highly, that anyone who hasn't played the first Witcher, do so whenever possible, as it's easily one of the best RPG's I've played in a long time. It's universe, based on the excellent novels, makes the universe of Dragon Age look like Happy Time Fun Land in comparison. It's depth, and darkness, is Lovecraftian, and if you don't know what I mean by that, you better be lookin it up.Just an honest opinion from a very well educated individual that hates when quality gets looked over. ;)

Just release it already, GOG... Release "The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut", patched to the last version, for $9.99.

Or if you're crazy, for $5.99

Even better, give it away to people who have purchased a bunch of games from GOG.

GameRager just bought it from Amazon for $6 so it wouldn't be all that crazy for GOG to price match.

Even though I bought the Enhanced Edition back at the beginning of '09 I'd still buy it again here. Awesome game.

You get the tracks if you preorder, but that doesn't mean you have to buy it. I already have the tracks, so if Game Rager wants to buy the CE he can do that without having to buy from GOG as well.

Don't give ideas to people on this forum.

Well I have Teenagent in my shelf, that is from Metropolis Software which was aquired by CDP, and CDP Red made The Witcher 1... GOG is CDP, so, am I eligible for CDP's TW1 for free?

Not his lucky day, then. :p

And that is a special sale on Amazon. When I'm saying $5.99 it is $5.99 as regular, make a 50% off and that's $3.

They're desperate to sell it, because sooner or later Steam and/or GOG will have a sale on TW1.

Not just because it's an awesome game,

it's just strange to have the second game onboard, but do not have the first.
