InkPanther: Looks like it's happening today. At least title and description on a game page have changed.
It has happened. The main installer is now the 1.1 version, while the older game is now part of the extras as "Outcast Classic".
Ought to be advertised on the front page, then, imo.

I doubt it will be. There was no front page fanfare when Postal 2 received the big update.

Crosmando: If they make us pay for it a second time.... I will not be a happy jan
I'm glad that it's free but I don't think I would have been unhappy if they charged for it.
Hmm, Outcast has been on the wishlist for a long time, this news may push it to the top
I'm stupid, it was late at night when I posted that. ;_;

So, how is the new Outhouse? Anyone tested it yet? Maybe I'll try it now.

Good thing they left the original Outhouse in the extras. But why are they calling it "product_bonus_38603"?

I now installed the new Outcast 1.1 version. It should be mentioned that the game now has English, German and French audio (and videos) and additional to subtitles in these languages it has subs in Italian, Brazilian and Dutch. SO no copying of any files to get the desired language. There are only a few options you can change but the setup is much more simple than the one og the original game. Unfortunately it crashed on me after playing only a couple of minutes. But the devs said that they will update the game further so I am glad I got this for free.
Hmm... Is it possible to install the old and new versions side by side, or is it strictly either-or? Just wondering because at least they both default to the same installation directory (C:\GOG Games\Outcast\), so even if you change that, do they also try to create the same shortcut icons into Start menu and such?

It is also interesting that the remake(?) installer is actually a bit smaller than the old one. Apparently it is not an actual overhaul? I guess I'll see soon enough...

I don't think this should be a problem. The new executable is named outcast 1.1.exe so I think you could install the new version in another directory an try them both to compare. I have not managed to get the music to work in the new version abd I will now test the old if the problem is my PC or the new version of the game.
