It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Appeal is the original developer who went bankrupt soon after the release when they were working on the sequel. Fresh3d has a few members of the original team and they bought the rights from Atari.

We will get the update (they said it on Facebook and on the Factornews news). I wonder if official multilingual support will be added (we currently need to copy/rename a few files to have it in French).

We had an unofficial patch for more screen resolution but official support is better. Also it will have a few bugs fixed, hd skyboxes, more resolutions...

F4LL0UT: How so? I've tried the GOG version on three machines already, worked just fine every single time. Only on my netbook (ironically the one machine running XP) there were issues with the music.
Been quite a while since I played it, in retrospect it could have been a HR patch that was giving me issues. Not sure.

F4LL0UT: Let's start with the fact that the default max screen resolution is 512x384. Already in the early 2000's I found some patch that allowed me to play in 640x480, though, and on YouTube I've seen a few vids that suggest that there's even been genuine widescreen patches already.
I recall I had some resolution issue with (GOG) Outcast on another PC, but at least on the HP ProBook 6470b laptop (16:9 aspect ratio) it seems to work ok, ie. I get a full screen 4:3 (meaning black bars on the sides). I just installed and tried it.

Maybe the issue was that the other PC (T400 laptop) had a 16:10 screen, not sure. Or then the GOG version has changed since I tried it the last time.

I can't wait to finally play this, hopefully without performance issues and full HD resolution support. :)

According to Steam it's being released in 3 hours. Will GOG add the update or will it take a longer time?

I really hope this will be today's second "release", fingers crossed ;)

IronArcturus: Wasn't Outpost 2 supposed to be better? What are the chances that GOG could get that series?

DoctorGOGgles: Outpost 2 was better than the total train wreck that Outpost 1 was, but it was still a rather mediocre RTS game according to most reviews I've read

I too hope we'll get the Outcast 1.1 update here on GOG. The game is not live on Steam yet either, so maybe we'll have a release here later.
I rather like Outpost 2. It's highly underrated.
Nice!

To bad I can not pre-order it already....
I´m also waiting impatiently. Steam tells me here, game will be released in 2 hours. Usually GOG is releasing earlier here in germany...but it´s not update in my account yet. :(
For the CPU required. We just tested the game on an Intel i7-2600 @3.2Ghz, and it works smoothly at 1920*1080. :)
We also tested on an i5, and it worked too, but a bit less smoothly when running at 1080p. But no problem with lower resolutions. :)
Please remember that the game still uses the old voxel technology and the render is still software-based.
The new voxel renderer will support and use all the threads available. :)
So yes, it does take full advantage of 4+ cores. :)

Great news! I wonder if there will be other games made with the updated engine? Are there any other games out from this studio, or is this their first release?

mwnn: The original game with user-made updates runs like treacle at high resolutions.
Perfectly recreating the original Outcast experience...
Looks like it's happening today. At least title and description on a game page have changed.

Already downloading the sucker...
Does anyone know: are save files compatible, or is it necessary to start 1.1 from the beginning?

I don't know but I would suspect they are not compatible, probably safest to begin a new.

It's worrying that based on Steam Discussions there are bugs people have noticed already like terrain disappearing and inconsistent performance (which is what I dreaded the most).
