Ha! Everyone complaining that the Worms formula hasn't changed and there's no point in owning the old ones when there are new ones...
I say there's no point in owning the new ones. For me, they never managed to top Worms United.

I'm not sure why everyone keeps saying it's Microprose and XCOM. There's already at least one Microprose published game on GOG already in B17 Flying Fortress. Plus, Microprose does not exist as a publisher anymore. They were sold to Infogrames. Most of the intellectual properties have gone elsewhere as well. I believe that 2K Games (publishers of the Civ series) own the XCOM license, since they're working on a new XCOM FPS.

And as much as I'd like to see Lucasarts, they do not fit the clue that the game is a TBS game (they've never released one to my knowledge). I'm afraid (at least for others, personally I'm rather happy) that the unnamed publisher is Team17.
Worms does not really sound like strategy, more like tactics, right?

Yeah, that's why I thought it's Paradox or Stardock. Which, I think, are expected shortly.

gyokzoli: A hint was posted by GOG:

A (big) hint: Tomorrow's new partner will worm up your cold January day with one of the best hot seat strategy games ever made.
Team 17 ? :(

I've never heard of it described as anything other than turn based strategy.
I think GOG will add the Worms games. They are "hot seat" games, and Team17 would be a new publisher. Also, both at this tweet, both on their facebook page, they say this new release will "worm up" a January day, and not "warm up". (I've read this "spelling mistake" from some facebook-users' comments.)

adambiser: Firaxis? Could be the Civilization series...
They already have Firaxis or at least whomever owns them, we already have Alpha Centauri which was a Firaxis game.

I should have specified the publisher, not the developer.

Alpha Centauri is published by EA, Civilization III by Infogrames (now Atari), and Civ4 is published by 2K. Yes, the first two are on GOG. Firaxis is a subsidiary of 2K now, at least if wikipedia is right and I understand it correctly, and I don't think they are on GOG.

Foxhack: It could be XCom, but 2K Games own the rights to the franchise and they're notoriously anti-DRM free gaming. And they region lock their games all over.

Pheace: to be fair, if I remember reading right, the X-com games on Steam are simply dos-boxed and you can simply move them outof the folder anywhere and they'll still work, so they're DRM-free already I believe.

I guess AOE3 appearing on Steam might be a slight notch towards Microsoft maybe spreading beyond it's borders in more areas than one, though I have a hard time imagining it'd be them (would be great though)
Yeah. They were also region locked for me for close to three years.

Judging by GOG's latest tweet, I sense Team17 coming. :P

Honestly, this stuff gets extremely confusing, it's not surprising to me that it takes GOG so long to get some of these deals hammered out.

Personally, I kind of hope that it's LA, even if it does mean that they photoshop ewoks into the games and fiddle with the cut scenes.

Same here. LucasArts and ZeniMax (to get id Software) are my top hopefuls. Activision is on here, so I'd love to see some RavenSoft games on here sometime.
Eh, worms is not what I think of when I think of classic strategy, shame.

Oh well, hopefully in the future

In some ways it surprises m that iD isn't already here, but, the games are mostly DRM free from Steam once you download them so, it's not really until you get the more recent ones that it would make much of a difference.

RavenSoft would of course be amazing as well.
