I only have one message for you, wpegg... I'm not your secretary! But thanks, that works.

ChaunceyK: So I propose that if anyone wants an avatar & doesn't know what to pick, just post here & we'll get you one!
I'm not sure that I need one, but have a go and suggest. Who knows, if I like it, I'd certainly give it a go!
How big do avatars need to be? I thought I'd read 32x32, but I can't find that anywhere.

reaver894: What would mine be?
As a Firefly fan, the first thing I think of when I see your name is . . . . REAVERS . . . RUUUNNNN!!! . . . =)

49x49. You can check it by right clicking any avatar and choosing "Image properties", the dimensions should be listed there. If you use a larger one, the site automatically resizes it. I tried 50x50 at first, but the resizing process really ruined the image quality, so I cropped it to 49x49 and it's crisp and clean now.

Adzeth: 49x49.
Preferably it should scale reasonably well to 16x16 as well, that's the small size. Sometimes GOG uses a separate image (scaled server-side), and sometimes they just use the larger one with the dimentions set to the smaller.

Example:
My avatar, 49x49.
My avatar, 16x16.
Though the one used if you quote me is the larger, displayed at the smaller size.

Ok, thanks.
Every avatar should have a story behind it, IMHO.

For me, its not enough that you like the pic / avatar, there should be meaning. It doesn't have to follow the name, just be there for a reason....

f'r instance, mines a blender - a nickname i acquired when with friends at a footy match in the wrong end (opposition supporters end). My mates with me advised me to 'blend in' - which I promptly did by jumping up and down and cheering when my team scored, much to the annoyance of all around me.

I've been known as 'The Blender' ever since....

Well, your tag line under your user name is "Stranger" so how about a faceless silhouette...different from the blank GOG one, of course!

As Chauncey has said, The Stranger is quite a good starting point. May I suggest "The Searcher" as your inspiration? Here's one of his missions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yKm3bEBWp_k

I would suggest a still from that.

I used to have Minsc of Baldur's Gate in my avy, as he is indeed the avatar of 'buttkicking for goodness!' (the protagonist even has that dialogue option to tell him that sometime in the sequel! LOL!)

But in light of Osama Bin Laden's death, I'd like to show everyone how 'happy' Donald Rummy is - right next to a reminder of Building 7.

I love Minsc, but I'm well content with my current avatar + caption, for the time being.
I do like my current avatar but I know of at least one person who has the same one I do.

That is pretty clever but I had to enlarge to see what it was.
