Ouya is actually a kickstarter project, and it is a STUPID idea. A console is not something one can "kickstart". A console needs developer backing to become viable. Let's be realistic here: a "hackable" = "pirate-able" console will get NO support from developers. Does anyone seriously think EA, Activision, Ubisoft or some major studio will support a gaming platform that offers no DRM, no copy-protection, and encourages a "hackable" = "pirate-able" environment? Some independent developers may get into it, but some indies are NOT enough to support a console and make it into a viable platform. I am sure hell NOT going to buy a console that has no AAA title and no strong studio support. Without strong developer support, Ouya is DEAD ON ARRIVAL.
Also, as a consumer I DESPISE freemiums and "free-to-play" games, which always end up as being more expensive than proper retail games. There is no way in hell I would buy a console that only has nickle-and-dime-you-to-death games.
Also, Ouya is the name of the person who kickstarted the console. Talk about a big fucking ego.
