sgarff: Lol, honestly my wishlist is so long that it would probably kill several trees if I were to print it out. It's basically everything I see that looks somewhat interesting to me, and I investigate the titles further when they come on sale. Helps me know for each sale if there's anything I actually want - just have to look for the little hearts.
No, no, really, I insist...make it public...I'm rather...um...curious....yes, curious...as are a lot of us...

Pharaoh I'd say, followed closely by Caesar 3, Dungeon Keeper and Disciples 2

Lmao, it's heck-a long, but if you insist XD Just take it with a grain of salt - a lot of things on there are kind of half-wishes until I do my aforementioned deeper investigations. Even after looking into them, I anticipate some of them staying on the list for quite some time, "on the backburner," as it were.

EDIT: Done. Public.

zeogold: Oh, right, thread. Forgot there was a thread here with an actual topic and stuff.

I'm gonna say Myst, but really, does that surprise anybody?
Oh, and I see you have Timelapse on your wishlist. It's a good one :D Timelapse was the Myst I never had growing up. I loved that game and didn't even know about Myst until years afterwards.

If by "fallen into my clever trap" you mean that you're going to buy me half of the games on the list, then by all means! XD

I'd probably go with Arcanum. The character customization is amazing, the story rich, the decisions meaningful. I played through that game with 3 completely different characters and I've gifted it several times.

Just be forewarned...use the unofficial fan-made patch to fix the bugs and restore missing content, and play the combat in turn-based mode.

Fan-made patches make the world go 'round :)
I would go with System Shock 2. Intense, atmospheric, and simple goodness. Nice level design, frightening enemy and probably most awesome villain in video game history

snowkatt: vampire bloodlines
its my ninth retail copy of the game
That is a great game. And a litle more underaprpiciated than it should be. And also this: http://www.leviathyn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/poster2152067.jpg

But from games I have on GOG and i have played I'll have to say Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. It's the game I would take on deserted island with me (maybe its tied with Fable TLC/Anniversary, but just maybe). It's like my game i play at least once a year when I have a free afternoon. When it came out it blew me away, with graphics (those cutscenes), gameplay mechanics and story was pretty good. Being a huge fan of original Prince of Persia (which I also play fairly regularly), Sands of Time was and still is the best game with the name Prince of Perisa attached to it.

What can I say. My three favorite games are Sands of Times, Fallout (okay i consider fallout 1 and 2 as one game) and NOLF.

I think only NOLF isn't on GOG, right ? Lost track of Fallout's departures/returns/half-returns.

sgarff: Apologies if this topic is some sort of duplicate, but after searching around, I couldn't find a "favorites" topic that was just for GOG games in general - they all seem to be a lot more specific than that. I'm very curious and interested to see what all of your answers are.

Please note that answers should only be games that you have purchased (or own because of freebies, etc.) and played on GOG, NOT games available elsewhere or games on GOG that you don't own.

Up to this point, my favorite is a tie between Far Cry (the first one) and F.E.A.R. (also the first one). I'm a sucker for FPS these days. Freespace 2 comes in at a very close second for me.

What say you?
What about games on GoG that I own elsewhere instead of here? That seems like strange criteria as the game doesn't change (except for maybe getting updates on Steam that they may never see here) when you change platforms.

dtgreene: I think I might have to go with Elminage Gothic, even though I ended up quitting late in the post game because the difficulty got ridiculous even for me.

(Also, there's the fact that, for no good reason, much of the best equipment can only be equipped by male characters; if I go back to the game, I am seriously thinking of modding the game to remove all gender restrictions on equipment except for the one weapon that can only be used by third gender characters.)
Gender is an asinine restriction period. Why would you keep the one for third gender characters? I thought you were all about gender equality and such.

Actually, I'd love a RPG with gender restrictions that apply to some characters only.

"I am not wearing this feathered helmet, these are for GIRLS."

"Okay, I'll take it instead, I don't mind that."

It's more the novelty.

I did come up with a different idea: Instead of being gender restricted, the items with those restrictions would be Innocent-only (in other words, they would be unusable by class changed characters or monsters recruited with Spirit Pact), with the exception of the Holy Sabre (the third gender only weapon), which I would give what I call the Bicorn property (except that I would need to actually *check* what that property actually does first and see if I like it).

There are other things I am able to mod in that game as well.

Many JRPGs with pre-made characters do this kind of thing, where you might have items that are mostly used by characters of a certain gender.

For example, in Final Fantasy Tactics, Ribbons are mostly usable only by female characters, but Cloud can equip it despite not being female.

In Paladin's Quest, since there is only one male and one female character that you can equip, shops describe equipment as being for males or for females; however, mercenaries don't always follow the rules (there are a few male mercenaries that use boomerang-type weapons, for example).

There's also the reverse; for example, in Lennus 2, many female characters can equip the Sexy Dress, but not all of them (in particular, Lovie, who is married, can't, and neither can Joynus, who is still a child).
