Mine would be the Lord of the Rings Trilogy especially Return of the King. Also, Equilibrium and the Christian Bale Batman movies.
SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK
Release Year: 2012
Director: David O. Russell
I don't really watch many movies. However I thought that Apocalypto movie by Mel Gibson (2006) was pretty good (at least the parts that I saw, I missed some sections). It told a universal human story of a man fighting to save his family, and I liked the alien setting with its pagan brutality. I can see why the movie is somewhat controversial (especially its ending), but still liked what I saw...Mel Gibson is a very flawed character, but he does have a lot of talent.

AMERICAN SPLENDOR
Release Year: 2003
Directors: Robert Pulcini and Shari Springer Berman
I also enjoyed Infernal affairs (2002) and its 2003 prequel Infernal affairs 2 (the 2nd one in some ways even more so). It was remade in the US as The Departed, but I've never watched that remake, the original is probably superior anyway.
Both movies were directed by Andrew Lau and Alan Mak.

Memories of Murder (Bong Joon Ho , 2003, South Korea).
The mood, atmopshere and acting in this movie is just fantastic. I have to re-watch it at least once every year.
