Two strategy/RPG powerhouses in one mega-promo: up to 80% off almost every Stardock and Paradox game!

Usually, when you're told that you're going to be sharing some space with a person you've never met, the first things you wonder are whether you two will be compatible and if they own a handheld console. But every once in awhile, the match ends up being so perfect that you feel like it should had happened long ago. When Stardock meets Paradox, this is exactly the vibe you'll get as you're browsing through their combined list of games and look at the sweet discounts we put on them.

Coming hot from the Kickstarter oven, Pillars of Eternity delivered this "modern classic" vibe that fans of the isometric RPGs of yore were craving. And it did it with the gusto and confidence we have come to expect from Obsidian.

The enormous scale and sandbox qualities of the <Galactic Civilizations games are what set them apart, but it's Stardock's commitment to constantly improving and expanding their potential that has grabbed the attention of all known species in the galaxy.

When Stardock meets Paradox you know you're in for a real treat. It's a great list of quality strategy/RPGs that should be on everyone's collection, like Sins of a Solar Empire, Hearts of Iron II, Majesty Gold, Sorcerer King, and many more, going for up to 80% off. The promo will last until April 19, 3:59 AM UTC.

IronArcturus: But I'm guessing the sandbox mode in the original game is only 4 maps and that's it? Or are there any other custom maps to use? Also, can you tell me what is the maximum resolution that windowed mode supports?
avatar
Matruchus: Nope there are 4 cities aka: Vienna, Helsinki, Berlin and Amsterdam which are playable in the campaign and in the sandbox mode. There are no custom maps but you can import user made maps.

Max. resolution is full hd aka 1920x1080.
Thanks for your help! :)

So is there a website that has custom maps that will work with the GOG version?

At this moment you can only find a few maps online through browsing since the big map exchange website for Cities in Motion 1 and 2 called cimexchange.com wen't down last june when they run out money for server support.

That's a shame. :-/
From the lack of Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity in the Upcoming tab, I guess I can rule out getting that any time soon.

Isn't Munich also included in the original game? As far as I know it has been implemented with a free update.

I have another question about Cities in Motion, is there a way to create a train line? In the demo there was a way to create trams, but I didn't see any option to create a train line.
As an old games and strategy games fan, I bought galciv2.
If I like the game, eventually I'll buy galciv3 too, but I've heard that game has low reputations so I'm afraid of.
Is the Fallen Enchantress: Ultimate Edition worth the $3 more to get the DLC?

Sorry to ask you something again... I purchased the game, and it's nice :)
But I read somewhere something concerning a patch who makes the game able to use 4Gb of ram instead of 2. Is it needed ? Is the game still using only 2Gb ram in it's last version if it's true ?
And I found this russian website where there seems to be some mods and a lot of maps : do you know if it's safe ? (it seems ok but... well, it doesn't hurt asking :P)

Unfortunately, it seems that the game is centered on transports inside the city only, and I haven't saw any kind of train line or anything talking about it.

For 2GB ram usage I don't know. Never had any problem with the game so its hard to comment on that. The russian site looks fine but it would be good if somebody who can read cyrlic comments on this.

Yes there is an option to make a train line/metro line. It can be underground metro, ground level or above ground level.

animalmother2105: Did I understand it correctly, that if I buy The Darkest Hour I basically get HoI 2 with the expansion + higher resolutions + other tweaks ect.?
avatar
igrok: Yes. There are some important changes in game mechanics in the Darkest Hour, but it is essentially a better version of HoI 2. Strongly recommended! Just don't blame me for lost time, sleep, friends, pets etc.
Thanks. No worries, I will not. :) The reason I am asking is, that I have both on my wishlist but from the reviews on the gamecard I understand if I buy DH, HoI2 is redundant since you can play DH without the tweaks and mods (=HoI2).
Hmm . Fallen Enchantress ?

I still remember how Stardock screw us with Elemental: War of Magic .
Nice promo GOG! I wish to see Europa Universalis IV promo in GOG, soon or later!

Indeed, DH has two launch mods by default, Light and Full. The first one aims to reproduce the experience of HoI 2. There are some small differences but they are not that important. The second one has new features in game mechanics. Overall I see no reason to play HoI2 given that I now have DH.

the website is fine. It's one the biggest CiM1 communities ever since the game was released :)
cool to see that they still produce new contents

the other important source for mods is this german site:
http://www.citiesskylines.de/filebase/index.php/Filebase/26-Cities-in-Motion-1/

(despite the name they cover all the games from Colossal Order)

You can find enough maps, vehicles and other mods there that you can easily get away with not buying the official DLC.
