I see the title and it makes me curious what's going on. Namely that Valkyria Chronicles is an anime I recall finding at AnimeSuki (which displays anime prior to licensing...)

Hmmm what do you know, it's still there...

Kardwill: Cool. Always wanted to try this game (and loved the Anime, at least until they went all super-sayan in the end).
Steam or GOG, it wil be mine :)
Oh, you'll hate the super-saiyan in game. SOOOO much fun.

markx182: Absolutely love the game and would definitely buy it on PC too. The sequels were handheld-only, so it would be nice if this sold well enough that they ported them too.
An official English translation of VC 3 is too much to hope for, I'd say.

The anime is based on a PS3 game. The game was quite good. That game is coming to PC, and us fans of the game are happy for that.

Nah, the big mid-season-mood-shift won't take me by surprise this time. And I'm much more fond of this kind of over-the-top stuff in games than in other media :)

FlamingFirewire: To much excitement to be contained in one thread XD

apehater: i'm exited too but there are still ways how sega can screw it up, one example:

sega contract gearbox for the port
Well after all the fuss with Alien I don't think they will ever work together again.
Linky for the fans!

Let's mark this as [SPOILER], but basically, I guarantee you that even if it doesn't catch you by surprise, you'll have a lot of fun when a freaking super saiyan comes charging against your WWII units. It's a... unique experience.

ElPrimordial: YESSSSSSSSS!!!! The hell is frozen now!!!!!!!!! Now we need it here :D
avatar
wolfsrain: The hell we'll be freezing when they will bring VC II and III. Right now it's just a cold place.:)
Have faith my friend, I never expect a PC port of VC 1 but behold!! Its coming!! Those will come too, eventually :D
Time to work out our wallets ;)
Much as I hate to say it, chances are this will be Steam exclusive. :(

Of course, you never know... But unless you don't mind playing it via Steam, it's probably not a good idea to get excited just yet.

And I didn't know that Sega is the publisher for this one. Makes me wish even more that they'll agree to sell it here, since they also own the rights for several other interesting PC titles.

That's why we gotta vote for the game on the wishlist and also write to Sega and let them know that we want more of their games DRM-free. ;) Like GOG said in the livestream about getting Japanese publishers here, that we, the community, need to tweet, email, Facebook post, everything it takes to get them to change their minds.

Really? That's interesting... Dates don't lie, and Wikipedia says it's a loose adaptation from the game, probably likely much better than anything made in the US for game adaptations...

I remember watching the first episode, and thought it was rather good. But military and tanks aren't something I'm hyped about so I didn't watch more.

The anime actually did some things right, like putting a bit more spotlight on some secondary squad members and sharing the accomplishments around instead of making your squad responsible for every single victory the military achieves. That said, it also had some heavy genre shift at one point that is a non issue on the game. Overall, I'd say the game is better.

Plot aside, it's a pretty solid tactics game, with an interesting visual style. Can't recomend without knowing how the port will be, but I do recommend to keep it on your radar.

Mmmm i'd probably have to watch some gameplay before setting my heart to it. There's quite a few strategies that just don't feel right for me, don't have a good manual/tutorial, or otherwise are just confusing. I'm reminded of a Gundam Wing game (xb360) that had i been given a good reference of how the system worked, i probably wouldn't have given up on the game. (Course i gave that game to a friend who adores the series...)

You certainly should. It has its own way of doing TBS, and it's perfectly understandable that some people wouldn't like it.

As long as I have a (even small) chance to kick his/her genetically superior ass with my plain old regular humans with WWII gear, I won't complain ^^
I dislike when supersoldiers/Chosen Ones/mystical aliens render regular people completely obsolete. That's what I disliked in the anime, but in a game, that problem ralely crop up.

I don't mind TBS, i love it actually to a degree, but it gets confusing and irritating when you don't know all the rules, and blunders that only veterans would avoid from simple decisions that you have no chance of considering beforehand.

Reminds me a little of the Erfworld comic.

Ditto. I feel that Dragonball Z is inferior to the original Dragonball because of that factor. The world tournaments were far more interesting than the Cell Games, simply because the characters could show off and hold their own.
