I have this one on disc along with the first two Dark Fall games. Overall I enjoyed it, but there was one bit that completely ruined the atmosphere for me: the CCTV footage.

Have them on disc as well (and happy about it)! Yeah, the CCTV footage could have been a lot better, but still the game was great.
All the games you've mentioned are actually far more atmosperic and immersive than similar games of the same era despite using far less sophisticated game engines than the majority (read: Flash).

Jenny_mp3: Can't believe I forgot about this one, but The Eyes of Ara. I bought it on Humble a while back and made it to the main hall, but put it aside since I was playing something else and have yet to go back to it. I would definitely buy it here if it came to GOG.

I've finished this and it's definitely worth your time. Something about the way it controls makes me think it was developed with touch screens in mind, but it's a well made and fun game. It also has a lot of optional hidden collectables in the manner of an Artifex Mundi HOG. I didn't have the patience for all of them but they might appeal to some.

Jenny_mp3: Another one that has me intrigued is Haven Moon, but I don't know much about that one: https://www.humblebundle.com/store/haven-moon
Ooh, wishlisted.

Yeah, overall I enjoyed Barrow Hill. I think that CCTV footage is a good illustrator of the "less is more" philosophy, especially when it comes to horror. Up until that point I found the situation a lot spookier, the camera footage just made it look a bit silly.

Another game I'm reminded of by this discussion is Baron Wittard: Nemesis of Ragnarok.
The game is very similar in feel to the Dark Fall games and Barrow Hill, to the extent where I wouldn't be surprised if some of the same people were involved (I know there are links between Barrow Hill and Dark Fall, but I know nothing about the Wittard developer).

Have you actually played Gemini Rue? Or is it just that you don't know what first person means? :P

I also haven't read half of the title.

Starting with the second half is an interesting technique.
Nice list, but there are many more. These came immediately to my mind:

Sherlock Holmes: Secret of the Silver Earring

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Harbinger

Demetrios - The BIG Cynical Adventure

I love this game! I also own it and had a blast playing it a few years ago. How can games like this not be more popular? You're literally the only person I've ever encountered that has mentioned Baron Wittard, you sir have a fine taste in games! Please, share more whenever you like in this thread.
And as always, please vote people: Wishlist - Baron Wittard
I've only played one game like this:

Normality

I don't remember much about it, but it's on GOG:

https://www.gog.com/game/normality
The Runaway , Secret files, Broken sword, Monkey Island,... series, Where to start, I like them all. One of my favourites is The Longest Journey, it has such immersive world, actually two worlds industrial and scientific Stark and magical Arcadia. Storytelling is superb as dialogues with NPC-s, puzzles are decent but not overall hard. I played it long time ago so there is some hint of nostalgia in my description but if you want immersive story you should try TLJ.

All of these are great games indeed, but... they are 3rd person games. This thread is specifically about 1st person point 'n click adventure games :)

Great game but it is actually played in 3rd person :) After your post I found out that GOG has wrongly tagged it as "FPP" in the game card. I'll probably contact support to let them know.

Looks fun! Out of curiosity, is the game (or developer) somehow related to Greece? The name sure is. Also, do you know why was it rejected by GOG? As far as I can see there are nice ratings in general and the game was also released on multiple platforms (win, mac, linux, ps4, switch, xboxone, ios, android - well every platform available).

Hah, how about that!

Actually I wasn't sure about the title, so I randomly checked the game card, and that FPP convinced me that it was the game I was thinking about. Apparently it wasn't.

It's on Sherlock Holmes trilogy collection DVD-ROM, and out of three games in that collection, it's the only one that is third person, other two are first person. So the games I was trying to remember are:

Sherlock Holmes: The Awakened
The Mystery of the Mummy

I believe the developer is French, but I can be wrong about this...

About GOG:

" Here's their message :

"We’ve taken a look at your title, it seems like an engaging game with some cool features.
Unfortunately, however, we feel that it would not be a good fit for GOG. Right now we are fully focused on releasing titles that are going to be a perfect match for our users.
I am afraid that your title does not match our criteria, so we need to pass on it." "
