amok: But I don't thank the actual store, such as Forbidden Planet or Waterstones, nor do I give thanks to Amazon or Steam or what-ever online shop where there is no actual human contact.... there is no one there to be courteous to.
Having listened to one 40-min lecture on UI design, I have this to say:

you couldn't be wrong-er. Real humans run and work for companies. Not every company is a soul-sucking monstrosity like Amazon or Twitter. Not every person hates their job. Not every low-level worker who does something good for you (like comp food you aren't satisfied with) is doing so out of their own personal goodness, it just might be company policy (set by a human, just not the one you're interacting with). And, say, in a tipping culture, it means the company is taking the hit and lets the worker pocket the profit (a bigger tip they're likely to get). By thanking an ethically-run company, I'm thanking the anonymous person who sets policies for said company.

More like the company is exploiting the low wages and is relying on the good will of the customers to give the worker a chance at a decent salary.

Never said I was special so I must be in the same boat.
Well I'll add my thanks to the blues and other staff. First purchase in Feb this year, and 40 games later no problems with downloading or running. Of course it helps that I scour the respective game forums and watch a couple of Lets Plays before I finally decide. I also check requirements as I still use XP (shaddup, I'll get there when I am ready).

Apart from the very low prices, and very regular sales the support is far better than I have found anywhere else.

Also of course the DRM free principle. A few years ago I bought Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim then found I had to sort out a Steam thing. It worked for a while, then I found my login wasn't being accepted. So thank you GoG for not being "daddy" and saying I can't play my games. As for Steam, if I see it's required I now lose all interest.

Ok so some say they pay the cost so no thanks needed, and some have the temerity to complain when the freebie or offer isn't good enough. But I complain when a job is badly done and say thanks when people go the extra mile. So, GoG staff....Thank you from me too.

Ah, Starmaker. Your clever, well-thought out, highly-intelligent retorts never fail to serve as an inspiration to us all.
