Vainamoinen: I had hoped there would be nearly as much disdain for 3D technology in movies than there is disdain for those obnoxious VR apparatuses. Time will bring us there, I guess.
At the core of it... this isn't a new technology. They've been trying to push this nonsense on us one way or other for 30 years.
Here's a blast from the past for you on the topic.

The late Roger Ebert doesn't agree. :)
This isn't the first stupid thing a famous professional said in history and it won't be the last. Let's put that beside Neil Armstrong, who was utterly wrong in his prediction about Elon Musk. Was (is) a big humiliation for a legend. At the core of it... this isn't a new technology. They've been trying to push this nonsense on us one way or other for 30 years.

Both Walter Murch, and Roger Ebert are wrong in every aspect of their arguments. First, that headache only happens to SOME people. The majority is perfectly fine with it. Roger is only showing off for that small but loud minority.
Walter is also wrong about the human eye. We can not only see all layers of what we see despite our focus, we can also see and comprehend wider than we know.
I see this situation as people above 60 not being able to use smartphones or computers while a 2 year old kid can use them without any problem. It is not a problem with the technology, it is a problem about our experience and narrow expectations that come with it.
