Apparently, Maz Kanata (a character so minor that I actually don't remember hearing her name) was actually supposed to have a bigger role. Apparently, there is a scene where, when chased by stormtroppers, Maz Kanata uses her powers to collapse the ceiling.

http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Maz-Kanata-Big-Secret-Was-Just-Revealed-By-Star-Wars-Deleted-Scene-106007.html

So this movie has not 1, but 2, female force users; it's just that one of them didn't actually get to use her powers in the final version of the movie.
Yeah there were a number of things cut from the movie, especially in the third act. While I still loved the movie, it does explain why the ending all seems a bit too rushed compared to the first 2 thirds

theslitherydeee: When you try to make everyone happy, no one is. I didn't want a movie for the fans like they made, all the constant in your face cameos was one of the things I hated most about the prequel trilogy. I want a good story, not constant reminders of a better story to try and convince me the new story is just as good.
THIS, now that "everyone" (Aka people without any taste) is happy, in one or two years, after the hangover of Starwars 7 will be gone, or even worse, the saga will go even worse than Abrams movie (And it could be as I never imagined he was going to do it worse than the prequels, and he did...) all the big defenders of this horrible episode will start to say "no no, I never said it was good, just that it was not so bad" and from there when Cinema History will put THIS CRAP in its place, nobody will recognize they ever talk good about E7.

This is EXACTLY what already happened with the Prequels.

Don't forget that they'll also mass-buy the bluray when available in half-a year from now ...
Went and saw it again, unfortunately for all the haters it's still a damn great film. Probably enjoyed it even more a second time when I didn't have any expectations. Really got a feeling for the heavy claymore way Kylo Ren was swinging that time. Also saw a lot more of Poe's kickass starfighter skills. Rey was still hot.

Some of you guys can't seem to enjoy star wars anymore, it's tragic.

Yeah, is like a religion for great franchises, some people just lost their taste in a Toilet long time ago, if there is a Terminator there, or a famous actor or director, all their criteria just sucks, because is about what is famous, well know or notorious.

The plot? nah... irrelevant... lets make a 4TH DEATHSTAR!! a New "Emperor" so original that will look like Voldemort... A BADDASS guy that is more powerful than any Jedi the first 5 min, but later is weaker than any Stormtrooper (not kidding Finn beated him) Sure they will clap it again... SO GOOD MOVIE HATERS

LOL

Some of us actually can tell a good movie from a bad one (or in this case, a mediocre one). Is it tragic? Well, it does mean we are not as easily entertained. We find "great" movies very rarely. But I rather enjoy enduring this "tragedy". At least when I call a movie "great" it actually means something.
yeah I wouldn't say this movie is a great movie but there's no denying that its' good. I think the fact that it could just jump back into the spirit and feel of the originals in pretty much every way after the prequels happened and just drag the series back to where it was before they came out is great. but the movie itself as a movie. it was good. pretty good. but shy of great. would have needed to not be so similar to the original to go any higher.
Hmm, lets see.

Wall Street Journal - 10/10
Chicago Sun-Times - 10/10
USA Today - 10/10

And Steven Spielberg has watched it three times, you guys obviously know a lot more about film than Steven Spielberg and Rolling Stone... or maybe you just don't know wtf your talking about possibly.

Hey I loved it but Spielberg also made "A.I." so no one is untouchable. :P

Oh my. Well, surely I have to change my mind to conform to reviews and opinions of other people! They must be right!

Strange, how James Cameron endorsing Terminator Genisys didn't make everyone love it though, isn't it? Or does he not "know more about film?"

Oh, and guess what movie got three-and-a-half stars out of four from Roger Ebert, and he called it "an astonishing achievement in imaginative filmmaking". Go on, guess.

So yeah, if you're trying to prove something about a movie using reviews or someones endorsment, you've already lost.

Force Awakens could have been two hours of Princess Leia getting off with a lightsaber dildo and they still would have given it 5 stars. We are talking about Holly-Weird, that place that's ran by jewish mafia car dealerships. That whole trash heap is a giant vampire nest. Suck the money right out yo neck, suckas.

You know, I'd very much appreciate if you didn't help me. Maybe then I wouldn't look like I'm one of the lunatic fringe.

At least you recognize that it is an offer of help. I can't lead you. I can only show you the way. I am Morpheus. You are NEO.

Follow the white rabbit...
it was the original trilogy, and specifically a new hope, again. unashamedly. you gotta dock it for that. I came away from the movie thoroughly impressed, but 100% behind the assertion it was almost a complete carbon copy. so really good, sure. but, great?

and I find all those 10s amusing. NYT has balls anyway.
