wpegg: One of my friends has one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Star-Wars-Death-Cube-Silicone/dp/B009150GV8

Totally impractical size for an ice cube, but you just have to use it.

tinyE: I AM SO GETTING THAT!!!!
Ah yes, merchandising. And speaking of merchandising ... you know they've already brought out a poster for Star Wars VIII ?

noncompliantgame: George Lucas declares "Disney white slave traders". :^o Shocking! But true ...
avatar
Breja: Yeah, he already apologised for it (as was obvious he would). I didn't listen to the entire first interview. I just found it rather hilarious that he of all people would complain about "focusing on profit over storytelling". And as for his criticism of the new Star Wars and what Disney is doing... no one forced him to sell. It's not like needed the money. I'm not defending the new movie, mind you. It's just that Lucas really isn't the guy who can claim some moral high ground here.
Well of course a groveling apology to hollywood is to be expected after any un-PC fau'par in order to avoid the hysterical chorus " ... you're a RAAACIST! George Lucas! you're a NAAAZI! ... " from the usual suspects. I won't mention the "S" word or the "J" word ... or the "W" word, for that matter. X^D

bad_fur_day1: I'm hoping this beats Avatar as the highest grossing film not because it particularly deserves it, I just am sick and f**king tired of f**king blue f**king aliens, that look exactly like people.
avatar
bad_fur_day1: Damn, I hate blue aliens. Kinda wish the evil corporation had run the whole lot of them over with those giant rollers. Thank god you saved the world from incessant cuddly blue aliens, stratophere nuke Pandora into oblivion from f**king space platforms, and rid the galaxy of it please. xD

Damn the unobtainium.
Yes, You want this, don't you? The hate is swelling in you now. Give in to your anger.

So what are you implying, that George Lucas actually didn't sell his golden egg to evil white slavers... he sold it to evil BLUE slavers? Have we been conned all along? Goddamn Blue Man Group conspiracies.

Except that Rey is oddly missing from the merchandise. There's a Star Wars Monopoly game that is missing Rey, despite otherwise being focused on Episode 7. (Also, what's Darth Vader doing there? Isn't it past his time?)

They sell what sells. Luke and Vader are always sold well, Kylo Ren might be just because of his cool looking masked evil Jedi thing. Rey isn't known well at this point, but in due time they will start selling this character's figurines and whatnot, if people actually dig her.

So is Luke, but his younger self is there too. And with the inclusion of Ren and Vader, it looks like all the characters are family, which would be appropriate because monopoly is a family game.

Yeah I know, I’m giving marketing too much credit. Any consistency is throw out the window with Rey missing. Instead we get Finn, who is hilariously outmatched against two lightsaber-wielding maniacs. Luke is all like ‘you take the one on the left…’

I'm not surprised that Rey isn't in there, they were obviously looking for characters.

Except that, not only is Rey a character, she is *the main character*. Imagine Star Wars Episode 7 without Rey, and without any character to fill her role. Notice how much of the movie you have to throw away? (Does the remainder even make sense?)

Rey is a figure without any character, at least yet.
I wonder if this template will be filled with personality later or of this would go against some gender politics dogma now because it would maybe make her offend anything. I guess she is just allowed to be female and flawless to cater to the audience.

Why does this have to always return to politics and feminism and all that? Rey is a bland, boring character. That's it. There's plenty of those to go around, and it's not exactly new. That's all Jurassic World had. Not everything is part of the gamergate war. Fuck's sake.

I wonder who would win in a fight Rey and BB8 vs. Indominus Rex and Chris Pratt.

Vs. Raptors. On spice.

Stay tuned to the Epic Rap Battles youtube page. I'm sure some combination of that will appear down the road.
I finally saw it on New Year's, I must say I'm surprised how much I enjoyed it. I thought all the nods to the older films would hurt the film for me, like they did with Jurassic World, but I liked it nevertheless. The new heroes are quite sympathetic, and the villains are so far over the edge it's hard to find anything sympathetic about them. For me the weakest part of the film was after they meet Han and Chewie when they have to escape both rival gangs and the monsters (whatever they were called). Though, I'm always tickled to see that 'Harrison Ford punch'. I'd rather the film had a little more time given to some of the characters, at the expense of some of the action. All in all, I might go see it again in theaters, in 2D this time, and it's gonna be one of the rare movies these past few years that I want to add to my disc collection.

There's probably something in the works. They run these things thru test groups so maybe they didn't get a good response from the initial products. Also that Monopoly is not specifically SW7 so it's going to be more general and they're prolly going for what is most appealing to Monopoly collectors. But she is as integral to SW7 as Luke is to the original trilogy so no doubt plenty of Rey related merch will start turning up in stores soon enough, patience young pad-wan. ;^)
If Rey had sold BB8 would she have missed out on the whole adventure? xD

Her house was a AT walker!! :D

It's all true you say Han? Really!?! I knew it!
