Nop, I mean, GZDoom is open source and all the builds are open source, but a heavily modify version of the engine, don't have to be open source too, often devs make it public because they want, but they don't have any obligations.

GZDoom uses GPL v. 3, which does require that any modifications have the source code publicly available. "Open source" doesn't have one meaning; it depends on the specific license. In this case they absolutely do have obligations.

Well, I hope the game is as dramatic as the thread (but in a good way)!

okay. gave the demo a spin.
and boooy, it's as great as promo videos show.
if we to use an associations magic, I'd say it's a very neat mixture of System Shocks (both), Marathon and F.E.A.R. in a VERY good sence.
now impatiently waiting for 2255.

Hello once again.
Thank you all for the great work.
Just wanted to ask honestly as the hype is high for this one as a GOG release. :P
Do we have a possible date yet?
If not, It's understandable.
Thanks again.

24. aug. 2255 is one interesting release date. If it holds up, I guess I *and* my grandkids are going to miss out.
I suppose it could be an epic preorder. ;-)

Q3 was specifically mentioned on Steam, so "Any day now"(tm)?
Also, there's this:
Also, there's this:
We have news in regards to GOG in the (hopefully) not so distant future!
Me living in the Netherlands requires us to jump through a few extra hoops to get our game on there. So I cannot officially confirm anything until the paperwork is done.

"We're announcing our release date in Q3 of 2023!"
- Nexxtic (Wesley de Waart)
We might get the game this year after the Q3 or we might get the announcement date for the next year, who knows.
Also "the game will be released in three separate acts, each providing multiple hours of content".
Personally I expect to play Selaco Act 1 this Christmas, but lately every publisher of the game I'm interested in has been able to exceed all of my boldest expectations.

Just a minor update as the release date is May 2024. I don't know about you but I'm pumped. XD
Here is a summery of what to expect from the initial launch in May 2024:
* 25 levels. For comparison, the demo had 3
* 11 weapons, 10 of which will be upgradable with new stats, abilities and Alternate Fire Modes
* Dynamic encounters with reactive combatants
* Heavy emphasis on exploration and world building
* A large number of secrets and unlockables
* Intense combat and effects taking inspiration from John Woo movies
* A wide range of environmental variety where no two levels look the same.
* Full modding support
* Gamepad & Steam Deck support
* A synth-heavy soundtrack composed by Lawrence Steele
* Very kind robots who clean up the mess you've created
EDIT: This is on Steam. No official word yet about the GOG release, but hopefully...

LOL. Honestly, the r34 for Hedon isn't far off from the monstrous original, however, I have hope for the teams appreciation for the more 'classy' space kink. I mean, it's already partly there with the choker.
One can hope. ;)

An update from the developer:
Selaco's Early Access launch is not likely to arrive on GOG unfortunately. v1.0 seems more likely. I made the unfortunate mistake of hinting at a GOG version before realizing the complications. For that I apologize.
Releasing on multiple launchers requires a lot more work and maintenance than I realized, and given our plans for active Post-Launch support during our Early Access period, it would end up slowing down development by a lot.
For example, Dualshock Controllers work right off the bat because of the SteamAPI even though GZDoom usually refuses to work on these for some reason. On GOG, that would require workarounds (unless something has changed here?). Achievements, Cloud Saving, Version control, beta tests, platform specific issues, Steam Deck integration, hotfixes, testing etc., it all piles up on an already very busy development schedule.
There are other challenges involved that aren't related to time costs, too. We worked hard on adding integrated modding support using the Steam Workshop. How is that going to work on GOG? It would mean some mods are locked out for GOG users (unless modders upload their mods on other places which I highly encourage).
What will the issues mentioned above mean for the overal value of the game? I don't feel comfortable selling a game for the same price when it has an inferior feature set compared to Steam.
None of this is a jab against GOG though. I really like their cause and fully support their DRM-Free approach despite some of their missteps. But for a very small team like ours, it becomes too much.

But does the Xbox controller work? Yes.
