BitMaster_1980: Don't feed the troll. Everything in that post suggests it's just someone trying to get a rise out of others with minimal effort on their part.
This game itself is trying to get a rise out of others.

Just look at the store page which says: "The unique catharsis that only comes from throat-punching a billionaire."

To write that as a selling point for a game is extremely unprofessional and way over-the-top. And it also crosses the line from being just a game, to possibly/implicitly endorsing that type of sickening violent behavior to be done in real life. It's literally promoting and trying to normalize the idea that rich people should be hated and violently attacked, and that's appalling.

And that poster you are replying to also has a very good point. If there was a similar game about starting a riot against so-called games journalists at sites like Polygon or Kotaku and/or ResetEra-style places, would that game pass GOG's curation? No way it would, because that would offend the evil people with whom GOG's owners always side with (and I bet those sites all love this "Tonight We Riot" game since it pushes the disgusting agenda that they want), so GOG would ban it from their platform for that reason. Yet this game passes GOG curation no problem. That's definitely a double-standard.

As for the posters comparing Tropico or the like to this game: that's ludicrous. Tropico doesn't endorse terrorism and/or violently attacking people based on how much money they have. But this game does. I'm pretty sure there is no other game on GOG that promotes extremism to anywhere even remotely close to the same degree that "Tonight We Riot" does.

Case in point: didn't GOG curation ban "Hatred" off of GOG? Yes it did: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/gogs_descsion_not_to_offer_hatred

Yet that game's message is a lot more tame than this one's is. At least Hatred isn't endorsing real-life terrorism, and it also isn't endorsing the idea that people should be attacked based on their class.

So why exactly was Hatred banned, but "Tonight We Riot" gets a free pass?

For all the good gog curates out, and then censors regiews and forum posts due to politics... then accepts this garbage. I see where this is heading unfortunately

Ironically their target audience is the average Elon Musk-fanboy at the same time.

Zoidberg: Seeing how this seems to trigger (alt)right bangers I have half a mind to just buy it.
Seeing how one of the "reviews" happily notes that there are "No identity politics, no shunning of people because white, because male, heterosexual or christian" you might be mistaken.

Oh what, did anyone expect the reviews of this to be anything than political rants? Pffft.

Anyway, I will never understand people willing to buy stuff just because it might annoy some other group of morons on teh interwebs, but sure, fine, whatever. Clearly this is the way to quality gaming right here.

Because quality-wise Hatred was a very bad game and this one might be good (don't know, haven't played it yet)?

I said that strategy games promote Right wing ideologies both indirectly and directly. Though to be fair, some even promote left-wing ideologies. How ever, indirectly, they teach you how to be effective manager/ruler/warlord - position that while free from both leftist or right wing ideology, requires and rewards both ruthlessness and effectiveness, in other words, sociopathy. Depending on how you look at things, this may be even more insidious than game which endorses violence for a certain political goal.

I honestly can't understand how people can be bothered / triggered / ecstatic with games like this. Playing a communist/fascist terrorist in a game is not much different than playing a GTA-like game where one can go around beating and robbing people (or killing them) without any regard for social order or laws. Or playing a thief in an RPG. Etc...

It's just a F'ing game. I have no sort of leftist symphathies, but I definitely want to play this game.
From the game card:

"an unapologetically political, socialist game about worker liberation in the face of overpowering capitalism"

being sold for money in a free market for the financial gain of the game developers

and

Further from the game card:

"Please spend your money on our game, Tonight We Riot."

lol

Mr.Mumbles: Charming fella. You must be fun at parties.
Unfortunately for you and your idiom, I don't attend parties - they have nothing to offer me.

But to be perfectly honest, I said that in frustration because every fucking time somebody mentions communism everybody starts using same fucking uneducated arguments and on both sides of discussion. And I am sick of it.
Forgive me for interfering in your political conversations, so I’ll say more about the game (price, to be precise):
Taking into account the political preferences of the founder of the development studio, I, as a person who lived under socialism, can say that the game should be "sold" for free. But be in deficit (only 100 copies and only one copy in one hands).
There could be a queue for the game, but this is only in case of demand for a scarce product. This is hardly the case.
The current price is too ... capitalistic.

For anyone interested about key rebinds, I've asked the devs on Twitter and learned that this feature is not there but also learned that it's one of the next thing the programmer will work on.

They seem like lovely people.

Very disappointed GOG, you're white-washing a murderous ideology with this as well as promoting hate. Even the EU Parliament adopted a Resolution against such lenient attitudes last year. You cannot pretend to be neutral while you become a platform for apologists of Totalitarianism disguising as artists/game developers.

Paradoks: On the other hand, the "Please spend your money on our game" would imply that
Or maybe it respects YOU for using YOUR hard-earned money however you see fit instead of making you a cash cow machine?

Maybe they KNOW we live in an unperfect world that they are trying to change and they also know that doing so from outside the system won't amount to much?

People who refuse other people's opinion expression unless they are done from outside the whole system, you know how that can be called, right?

May I ask, why you are buying PC games?

If ruthlessness and effectiveness are inherent capitalistic/right wing concepts when they are rewarding players of a game, then almost every game is inherently right wing. Even jump and run games fall into that category, many board games would also fall into that category, many pen & paper roleplay systems and so on...probably even this game.

I think I understand now from where these calls for "games" without being games come from...
