No Man's Sky a science-fiction game set in an infinite procedurally generated galaxy, is available to pre-order now — DRM-free on GOG.com

Intergalactic travel changes the notion of time. Unimaginable speeds connect impossibly distant worlds, dilating lifetimes, blending generations. A round-trip may find your world aged and unrecognizable, separated from your loved ones, irrevocably alien. In an intergalactic society, only the few set off towards the stars — explorers, those unafraid and with nothing to lose. They set off never to come back as far as our lifetimes are concerned. And thus, we still look up at an infinite sky, now within our reach, yet still untouched — a no man's land, a No Man's Sky.

No Man's Sky promises discovery of an infinite, uncharted universe. Its billions of stars, planets, unknown living creatures, breathtaking sights and lonely wastelands — all seamlessly connected — populated with explorers drawn to the distant mysteries of the horizon, eager to leave a permanent mark in their wake.
The frontier is merciless and dangerous. Exposed to a universe of extremities in your fragile suit and ship, you'll need resources and upgrades to get far — as well as the means stand your ground in fight.
Whether you journey to the center of it all or seek out the farthest reaches of existence, the trip will not be simple or dull. You'll catalogue things unseen, discover alien artifacts and reveal mysteries of the universe. If you survive.

The pre-order incentive for No Man's Sky includes the Horizon Omega ship — faster engines, better guns, all to kickstart your trip and help you survive longer on the interstellar journey.

Reach out and touch the No Man's Sky, available for pre-orders now, DRM-free on GOG.com! The game is scheduled to be released on June 21st in North America, June 22nd in Europe and Australia, and June 24th in the UK and Rest of World.

Has anyone seen any info on how the shared universe stuff is going to work on GOG? I'm guessing it'll be like most other multiplayer aspect games requiring either a key or GOG Galaxy if you want to participate as someone mentioned but didn't see anyone actually quoting the devs or whatever here (and I did read all pages)

No complaints about the regional pricing here in NZ although I still don't think I can afford currently and in any case it's too risky to pre-order. Price is AUD 61.99 (about USD 45.19 based on current exchange rates) or USD 46.99.

Price on Steam is NZD 89.99 (about USD 61.05 at current exchange rates) so is more than USD pricing! This isn't normal Steam regional pricing. I would expect probably NZD 71.99 (USD 48.84) if they used Steam's default regional pricing system. So price for this is even lower then the what would be the normal Steam price, even considering credit card exchange rates and fees :-) Not sure why the priced it like that but I wonder if it's something to do with Sony/PS4 pricing. Not as bad as some other studios, e.g. 2k, Bethseda and sometimes Square Enix who generally charge more than the US (and sometimes the UK or Europe) on Steam.

BTW, while the discussion died down a long time ago so I won't say much, I would agree there's been a lot of hype.0 However I think it's hard to conclude this is because the game is poor, it's a marketing strategy that's hardly surprising given Sony's involvement. As for the idea that they're not giving any preorder discounts because they need to make as much money as possible, well the alternative view is that they're so confident it will do well they don't see the need to give pre-order discounts and feel they can afford to just give the small bonus. In other words you could easily say someone giving a pre-order discount is the one desperate to sell before people realise the game doesn't live up to expectations.

Given the hype, I suspect there will be plenty of people disappointed, but let's hope it's better than certain order games *cough* Spore *cough*

As for pricing generally, I admit I always feel games in general are overpriced. Still the market is as it is and if the game really lives up to what you'd expect from an "AAA" release, the developer being indie seems moot. Considering Sony is supposedly treating it similar to a first party release even if the devs didn't want their money, I don't think the pricing is surprising. (And let's face it, some AAA titles don't deserve the price.)

Oh, you know it`ll happen.
A pisser if true... but not really surprising unfortunately...

The ambitious space game No Man’s Sky has been delayed, two sources tell Kotaku. We don’t know exactly what the new release date is — and it may not be finalised yet — but we’re hearing it’s been bumped until at least July or August.

Developed by a small UK-based team called Hello Games, No Man’s Sky has been much hyped since it was revealed back in 2013, seeing extensive coverage everywhere from the Stephen Colbert show to The New Yorker. Last October, the developers announced that it’d be out in June of 2016, but that appears to have changed.

A reliable Kotaku source was the first to inform us of the delay. A second source, who works at GameStop (the US equivalent of EB Games), said they received marketing materials today for No Man’s Sky with the original June 21 release date. However, stores were informed that the release date is no longer correct and that they should cover it up with a “Coming Soon” label:

Sony and Hello Games did not respond to requests for comment by publication time.
A month or three delay is not really a big deal for an ambitious title.

At the same time, it could be an early sign of cracks in the rails of this games long hype train. A month or three could potentially turn into 18+ months, like Star Citizen. Too early to tell..

Meanwhile, I'm happy to continue to not pre-order highly-hyped titles (or any titles at all, for that matter), and simply await their actual release - to therefore know what I'm actually getting vs. what the hype "promises" I'll get.

This title still looks very interesting - will continue watching for news on it with bated breath..
I know I can't download this yet. However, when I look at my library, under NO MAN"S SKY it says NOT COMPATIBLE. Is that because it's not released yet? Is there something about this game that would not make it compatible for my gaming PC and Laptop? Both are. very high end rigs

It's because you can't download it from the Galaxy client yet.
It would annoy me immensely more to get a game that was buggy & half done rushed out of the door just to be on time.

yeah delay is always better than a buggy release

New release date...?
If there's a change, it'll probably be announced Monday or Tuesday at this point.
Or possible months later...?

No idea if the original console versions were due same time as computers or not though.

They were. Hello Games should have made the same post on ALL sales outlets, not just the PlayStation blog. Bad form. The post from Sean Murray never states outright that the PC version is also delayed, but it does imply that.
