adaliabooks: This.

Finally, Nintendo looks like they're getting it right. This is what the Wii U should have been all along.
And if the two separate controller things have motion sensors then it can have the best of both worlds and be a Wii too...

Let's just hope they haven't skimped too much on the specs, but it looks like they've got some third parties on board this time.
just some ?

this might be a complete clean break with the wii\cube architecture there doesnt seem to be room for a disc to load
which is about time that architecture is 15 years old
Page popping.

Also, I wonder what else it will do?
Will Nintendo finally put a decent OS in there so that it could serve as a full blown tablet as well as a console?

doubt it
nintendo has always been about video gaming

Yeah, it's definitely a better showing then previous consoles..

It would be a shame if it isn't backwards compatible at all (though with most / all Wii U games coming in downloadable form you could probably still download and play them if it supported it), though it would have to be in the dock as the tablet clearly has no disc drive.

True, but if they stuck a decent browser in and some productivity apps (word processor etc.) it could be really useful...

Hell, just give it a modified version of Android in there somewhere to use Android apps and that would do (though I really can't see Nintendo doing that)

the NX seems to use 3Ds type cards so i dont think it wil be backwards compatible at all unless they start selling cube and wii games on the virtual console shop

and i dont see nintendo licensing android just not them
I wonder if that means that they'll abandon the 3DS eventually. It definitely looks better than some of their previous efforts, but I'm not going to rush out and buy one. I'm also still expecting a version of Nintendo's horribly gimped online system. "We've gots to protect the children!"

catpower1980: In attachement below, you have a fresh pic of the partnerships with the nintendo switch
Yeeeah, about that. That may look nice on a splash page, but results talk louder than "what ifs". The Wii and the Wii U suffered from 3rd parties abandoning their platforms rather quickly, after pronouncing their support. So take that with a big-ass grain of salt.

apehater: wow, they have from software on board! how awesome would it be playing dark souls on the mobile part while not at home, till the battery is empty.

i posted the exact same thing
yes i and catpower did try to prank you by ignoring you :)

i was just too lazy to reply to your post
Sad to see that the reveal spent a little too much time trying to be "cool" with the e-sports crowd and basketball court and such like. That's always bugged me with Sony and Microsoft's marketing and it's a shame that Nintendo is abandoning its off-kilter PR for something more blandly conventional. Seeing Satoru Iwata stand there with his typically Japanese style and mannerisms was always a treat. Condescendingly presenting the product as being something that all the supposedly hip kids will play is not.

No great surprises regarding the design, although I must say, it does look rather stylish with the matte grey and rounded edges. The idea seems sound - as I said above, the idea of being able to play the same game on a home console and seamlessly transfer it to a handheld device is brilliant.

The only question is how the device performs, and whether the docking station serves as a performance booster of sorts, or whether it's just the same handheld hardware being HDMI'd to the TV. There are certainly a couple of hints in the video that the games may not perform quite as well on the handheld than when docked - compare the video of Zelda on the TV at the start against the video of the handheld play - there's some noticeable judder in the handheld play, but then, it's safe to assume that much of the gameplay footage may have been superimposed digitally.

Already owning a Wii U, the rehashes of Splatoon and Mario Kart 8 don't really appeal to me, but a new Mario platformer does. Skyrim Remastered will certainly be an interesting test of the console's performance.

yeah i was about to say the same thing
the wii U had a great line up at launch but third party developers walked as soon as it became obvious that the wii U
wasnt selling like hot cakes

and skyrim might all be well and good but the real question is ifits the original or the remaster
if its the original fallout 4 if it comes wil have to be chopped down

my guess is that it will be a big pain in the ass to convert from ibm power pc to arm (don't know exactly which kind), so backwards compatibility is something one could only dream on or hope for a jailbreak and a decent emulator.
Cool. Considering how much use I got out of my Wii U and 3DS, which was much more than either the PS4 or Vita, I'll probably buy this one eventually.
i actually think this looks pretty awesome. plus skyrim on the go!
Well, about this chart, it's a little bit redundant:

Tokyo RPG factory -> SquareEnix
Atlus -> Sega
TT Games -> Warner
Grasshopper -> GungHo

Besides, I would hope that it's not just a list of names but companies who are actually developing something currently.. in which case Atlus and Sega (and I presume the others, I don't recognise all of them) are two different companies in terms of what you would expect them to be making.
