What I adore with these guys (and their variations, in various contexts) is how they genuinely feel all special and superior and cunning and daring because they do something that nobody else does. They don't realise how easy it would be for anyone to do it, and that the only thing that makes it rare it is just that people generally aren't pricks. The smugness with which they display their "special talent" (being a moron, and thinking it's very demanding) is both hilarious and touching.

This version is one of the best, given the brainpower required to elaborate this scheme ("hey, okay, let's trade, here's my code. give me yours" "no! muhahhaha" *runs away*). Seriously wow, who would have thought of that. Who would have expected it to work, except an evil genius and everybody ? Surely, all the people who don't do it have understood nothing at life... Lol, what losers.

Oh, I'm cool, it's just I've some how lost my copy of Doom 3 (likely also stolen by an ex-roommate along with my copy of SS2), I'm sick, and just other things have gone wrong today. What happened was I was PM'd (I still have the PM) by the scammer using that fake "Big__McLargeHuge"'s name and I (in my medicated stupor) assumed it was actually him.

He said he wanted to trade Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath for my key for Resonance. I figured fair trade, and (stupidly on good faith) gave my Steam Key for the game and was told by them that it was invalid (to which I sent an email to Dave about the matter). Only to find out here, that it turned out to be the scammer using a fake name of a legit user (I doubt I'm mistaken since the scammer posting here has the same name as the PM).

So, yeah, turns out I got scammed. No longer got my copy of Resonance Steam key, and no Stranger's Wrath to show for it. I really have no recourse, so I'm sitting here feeling sick and depressed.

I wonder how it feels ripping off someone who's puking his guts out... :\ I'm not expecting any kind of pity, or a hand out (though I would be greatly appreciative IF I got the game none the less, of course); it was my own fault for being trusting. I figured I'd make it known the scammer ripped off another person on GOG.

Damn, what a pity. He did scammed quite a few member before using the same M.O. By impersonating a well-known member, through PM (you can't see their rep through this).. also posting fake code in Ninja Giveaway thread hoping for somebody to uprep them, how low can they go?

I'm starting to think these scamming going around here lately is lot more serious than what certain user portray it to be few pages back. We can no longer think it's an isolated case.

Yeah, I am not having a good day, and losing that code was pretty much my only trade bait. It's the second time that douche bag has contacted me. First time was on another name trying to get Resonance. I really think GOG should step in about this (not to replace what's been stolen but deal with them) and ban hammer this asshole with an IP ban or something equally harsh.

I don't normally like to be that cruel but this douchebag is technically committing fraud. One could make argument that anything he scammed during trades could be argued as theft and I don't know anywhere where theft or fraud is legal.

You know, I wish that in the "Messages" page you could see someone's rep and join date next to their name and icon. That would make things MUCH easier.

That sucks, but unfortunately, IP bans don't work. I fairly regularly run up against them when I'm trying to register places because of some spammer from the PRC in the past, or really spammers.

Tell me about it, first I lost yet another game from my physicals collection, now this. Today is not my day. Yeah I know it wouldn't work, but one could hope karma bites this piece of shit in the ass. I think I'm just mad at myself for falling for such a cheap con. I was so stoked to get Stranger's Wrath too. I had the game a while back for PS2 but sadly through a really unfortunate accident a friend stepped on the disc and it snapped in half.
