MarkoH01: Err .... no, they don't. sking somebody to enter their (imagined) age is not age verification - it might be a party game but it is not proper age verification ;) Like I said, many online stores in Germany that sell goods which requires age verification (i.e. movies) have proper age verification integrated so it's nothing Valve of GOG wasn't able to do. But anyway. this thread should be about the game and not about Germany and their crazy politicians :)
TomNuke: Yeah, and let me guess... proper age verification for Germany is going to screw everyone else over, right? That's reason enough alone to not do it.
What is "proper" age verification for Germany? How do you do it without screwing me over? I think if Valve had the answer to this question they would have done it. If it was easy enough, didn't interfere with the rest of the worlds customers, and there was enough money to be made in the German market then Valve surely would have done it. The fact that they haven't already says everything anyone needs to know, in my opinion at least.
Andrey82: Okay, we got Subverse amd Evinicle, now we need Rise of Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider. )))
TomNuke: Probably will be coming at some point. Square Enix removed Denuvo from Rise and Shadow a week or so ago, and it was already hinted here that more Tomb Raider was coming when they released 2013, Legend, Anniversary, and Underworld.
Maybe they show up for this years Winter sale?
A proper age verification for indexed games or porn in Germany is a closed usergroup… it is the only way to distribute those titles digital here. Basically a store within the store where only adults have access after they verified their age sometimes every time they log in. A normal age verification is not enough for those kind of titles regarding the law.
Basically it goes like this
rated 18 or unrated = normal age verification is enough.
Indexed = no commercials and public selling which means closed usergroups.
Banned (by a court) for the glorification of violence, use of unconstitutional symbols or hate speech = still legal to buy and own. Selling from adult to adult is also fine. As a store located in Germany selling this would get you in trouble but you can find plenty of banned media on ebay.
Also most indexed and banned media is publicly announced so people can create their shopping lists.
And being honest there is not one major digital site like Amazon, Netflix, Steam, Gog and so on which has closed usergroups. I only know porn sites located in Germany use this… because they have to. For retail copies on the other hand there are many specialized store within Germany which sell those kind pf media.
