TomNuke: You have to do that because the game is Adults Only. If you're not logged in and have that kind of content enabled in your Store Preferences you won't see the game.

If you have questions or something you'd like to know, just tell me and I'll do the work for you and get you the information you want.
Thanks, very kind of you to offer.

Steam has been a great aggregate review service for games over the years. I guess they can have my email.

I'm also hungrily looking at their readily downloadable webm videos for their games for my offline collection (GOG's game videos are from Youtube, so you can't download them).

TomNuke: Yeah, and let me guess... proper age verification for Germany is going to screw everyone else over, right? That's reason enough alone to not do it.

What is "proper" age verification for Germany? How do you do it without screwing me over? I think if Valve had the answer to this question they would have done it. If it was easy enough, didn't interfere with the rest of the worlds customers, and there was enough money to be made in the German market then Valve surely would have done it. The fact that they haven't already says everything anyone needs to know, in my opinion at least.

kzadur: Is here some Playstation Store user from outside Germany? You need to use your ID card on any 18+ title here (maybe even 16+ - I can't recall, since I am not spending so much anymore there).

Those of you who use the other Playstations Stores - are you "screwed" by ID checks?
Wait ... what? I never needed anything like that ever on neither PSN nor Xbox Live, and i have been using both for like a decade.

Indeed. Germans didn't have good government since 1945.

Breja: Am I the only one thinking this game would be more interesting without the porn? And I don't mean it in a "porn evil" way.

WinterSnowfall: While other games use sex/romance options to spice things up, this is a game with a strong sexual theme (or porn, if you prefer). It doesn't hide behind the curtains :P. There's room for both.
Sure. All I mean is that the non-porn related stuff (space battles + turn based tactical ground missions) sounds good, so for me the porn part, which I'm not interested in, is just sort of getting in the way.

Won't clutter this thread with this tangential topic, but thanks for the link :)

TomNuke: Honestly, you have no idea how complicated it would be to implement something like that on Steam. You're basically talking out of your rear end.
So that's the end of the discussion. You know absolutely NOTHING about German laws, try to lecture me and now you refer to insults. We're done!

huan: I can see how that would work in GERMAN store, where people from other countries rarely buy anything, let alone 18+ content. Are you sure what would happen if someone from outside your country tried to buy something there? Sure, they could just turn off age verification, but I'd bet more on the "sorry, germans only" message.
GOG manages just fine right now to block games for Germans only so they would not have ny problems showing age verification to Germans only as well.

What I saw from older "review" of this game neither space battle or TBS elements are interesting or exceptional. Personally, while I don't give a fuck about porn elements in this game, it's not something which would be getting in my way. As I got older, I stopped caring about particularities getting in the way of my enjoyment of the game. That said, this game looks uninteresting.
Again - can't buy this here buy no issue on Steam - own it there
WTF is GOG doing re it's AO releases...

Man, what a heated discussion. Gotta throw in my few pieces...

Honestly, though not German myself, I'm with you on that point Marko.
Firstly, the argument that "if it was easy and profitable it would have been done long ago" is being thrown in this topic like it's fact, while anyone can see that all those "if's" are themselves huge speculation at best. So no one actually has any idea if it really is hard to implement this age verification or not - my guess (and I reapeat: guess) is that this is easier than you might think (at least for such a behemoth like Steam it should be... GOG is significantly less powerful). As to why Im guessing this... Ill get to that in a moment.

Secondly "everyone else gets screwed" sound like mass histeria and makes no damn sense at all. If anything it goes the other way around - usually a given country's store sells to its own citizens but screws anyone else in the process. This is how most streaming services operate, courtesy of geo-location. They only allow watching local TV to their own tax payers.

Now to put this into perspective. Im an avid snooker fan and this very minute I am watching the German Open Qualifiers on paid Eurosport Player (again Germany... this time it's coincidence :P). Did you know that there are some tournaments that in Great Britain are exclusive to be broadcasted on BBC or some other english telly? But since I am not a resident of UK, I can watch them on Eurosport without hassle, cause I don't have any legal way to watch the original BBC. If on the other hand I would move to London and try to watch one of those snooker tournaments on my Eurosport account, I would be denied service. That's the way geolocalisation works. It only blocks or grants acess to certain things depending on special factors. EVERY ONLINE SERVICE uses this in some way or another - why would it screw someone over in the Republic of Kongo just because a German Shepherd wanted to buy himself some hentai? Makes no damn sense to me... and my guess is it is can be implemented because its ALREADY THERE. Or do all of you people buy your games in Zloty's (the currency of Poland - GOG's homecountry Ill remind you)?

Where was the insult? You're acting like you know how complicated something would be to implement on a store like Steam, just because some German websites have "proper" age verification. You don't know though. If it was easy to do, and the money was there from the German market you don't think Valve would do it?

But yea, there was no insult. Nothing I said was an insult or even close to that. Telling you that you're talking out of your rear when you make claims that something is simple to do, when in reality you have no idea, is not an insult.

I don't know anything about German law, but I do know that you guys are blocked on Steam and now GOG, but this should be so simple to fix with proper age verification because some German websites do, right? Please. Like Valve and CD Projekt wouldn't love to take your money. Germany is being unreasonable here. Simple.

No one is lecturing you, no one is insulting you. You're not a victim here, this is you running away with your tail between your legs because you have no response.

If it was easy to do, wouldn't affect the rest of the world, and there was money to be made in the German market, Valve would have surely made proper age verification, but they didn't.
Can't buy it in New Zealand either. Whether that's because we've been lumped in with Australia- which happens a fair bit- or not I don't know. It certainly hasn't been specifically Refused Classification.

(Wasn't going to buy it, but NZ censorship laws are theoretically at least pretty draconian, even if they're very seldom enforced and I'm always interested in whether they've started enforcing them)
Subtle.

I guess someone wanted to interlock with Sombra from Overwatch, but couldn't be bothered to just log onto Danbooru and get their leaf rubbing done.

Once they were done having a whack tally and heard the Devil's Laughter, they could remove the part that as Breja says, does nothing to enhance the actual game.

For western countries that allow adult magazines and sites to thrive (and I don't mention the porn industry yet) many people are so uptight about a game with sex involved. Seriously there's thousands of games on GOG with no sex you can buy but y'all decided to wear that high and mighty purity boots and stomp around yelling at people as if this game will bring the antichrist along with it.

Hypocrites.
